EBTKS Challenge # 24

Have you ever felt that you should give up taking part in certain challenges as your work never seem to be "good enough" ? I thought to myself that way when I play EBTKS Challenge since I am always such a loser keener for these types of challenges. When I saw the latest challenge, I knew I will be STUMPED.
See what I mean?? Sadly this purse image has been stuck in my brain and I kept telling myself that there is NO way I can come up with anything decent. Well, here I go again....(bear with me!).
I started with mimicking the look of the pattern from the purse and sure enough, it looked horrible! I used this Hero Arts stamps Speckled Ornament and tried embossing the images in black AND white ...they do not work! I was just about to give up. I later did use the "rejects" for the flower that I create.
And I tried embossing in white and distress and THEN stamp a bit of black images on them and this is the final result. Somehow the color turquoise from the purse is so eye-catching, so I decided to use it as the main color. The black in this card provides the "drama"!!
Thanks very much
Here's the close-up.
Well, it's one of those challenges that give me a big push! So never say never! And a great lesson learned! I think I'm happy to say: " YAY! I did it!"

Hi Virginia! I know what you mean about the EBTKS challenge! This purse did not inspire me at all, it's not my kind of colors. But I could see it being for other people. And I suppose they call it a challenge for a reason? :> ve your card, it's really true to the purse but even better!

WOW Virginia!! This is a PERFECT take on the challenge (indeed a challenge too)!! You did such a great job creating that design with distress inks. I just made my card for this challenge last night--going to go take a photo of it now! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey, I was at JingJing's blog and saw you mentioned oxtail soup! I NEED that recipe girl! We have oxtail from our beef and my husband cooks it - not very well I might add, so I would like a new recipe! (sssshh.. let's not tell him, ok?)

I know what you mean about never thinking the day would come to be recognized for a EBTKS challenge (although I recall you being a Domestic Diva at least once, right?). I was pretty pumped to get the Domestic Diva shout out this time around. Honoured to recognized along with you!!
