Did You Know....

......how I came about this Purse card (It's Your Day)? I was not planning on to share my original card, but quite a few of you asked me how in the world I came up with the design. So here it is... the truth is, the purse card is my 3rd take on this Tuesday's Trigger.

This was the original design.
TODAY is a very Special Day!
I used the dress more like a sketch and then thought about using the banners. It was not bad at all, so I thought. Then I showed it to my 17-year old David. And that all changed my perspective....

So here is the side feature of Monday...
Our conversation went something like this:
V: "So what do you think? This card was inspired by this dress!" *points to picture*
D: "REALLY?! That's kind of stretching it..."
V: " Stretching it!? What do you mean?" (not amused by the harsh criticism)
D:" Look, the dress has patterns and lots and lots of layers! Yours is FLAT"!!
V: " Oh..." Feeling like being stabbed in the chest a little hurt, I realized this little guy has a point!
So I went back to the "drawing board", so to speak. I made a purse card, but the proportions were off! I tore it up, reconstructed the whole purse and that's how this card was "born". I still kind of like the original card!

Hope you have a great week ahead!

PRECIOUS!!!!! I'm laughing out loud Virginia!
I suspect David has inherited some of Dr. John's dry humour?!

Love that card nonetheless ;-)

sometimes, kids have the better perspective on things than us! love your conversation with david! the boys ask me about my card stuff & they just don't get it. but brandon, knows not to critize harshly (cause we taught him to be nice :) he told me once something i made "looks a little funny but not really. if you like it then that's ok".

This post gave me a giggle... I love the card. But at least David's criticism meant that we got to see the lovely purse card.

Oh, David, how could you? :))) That's the thing abut kids, you ask them a question, and they answer it. Never mind him, this card is sweet, Virginia!

David's comments crack me up...I guess he hasn't figured out that sketches and inspirational pics are interpretative. :) I love it!!

Both cards are great takes on the trigger photo. Your conversation with your son cracked me up. Now you will have to have two 'what is he thinking?" weekly posts, for father & son. ;-)

Actually, I sort of more than like it! And I think only cardmakers understand the whole "inspiration" challenge thing. At least in my experience with showing my husb inspiration photos... :P
