New Feature---"Un-chosen"

I  was looking through a few cards that I submitted for the publication call ( Paper Crafts Stamp It and July/ Aug 2012 ). Sadly, this particular card has been rejected twice (ouch!!), but I think I still like it a lot.

I love the painted orange background of this card. Even though it's not perfectly even, but I love the textured look that paint gives.
12.wishing you well
The imperfection of the orange background really speaks to me. The sentiment seems to fit the stamped Newsprint Bird. The added twines are subtle, solemn and rustic. I can go on and on (LOL). It really is a simple card :)

Lastly here is the Scramble card I made in an hour (details here ). I think this could be the card that took the longest in a scramble challenge. I chose three elements for this card--diecut, green and Pattern paper.
A GREAT BIG HELLO
I added the birdie and buttons at the end. Note sure why, but it just felt---right. I think it's just ME!

I have a pile of un-chosen cards to share. I purposely call them un-chosen, instead of "reject". Because....there is really .nothing. wrong. with the cards ,other than the fact that they were not selected for publication. Thanks to a suggestion by my talented scrapbooking blog friend Jing -Jing who commented that the word "reject" sounds too harsh. Jing-Jing thinks these cards should be called "un-chosen"! Makes sense, huh?

Hope you will enjoy the occasional new "feature" in my blog :)
here is.... wishing you well!

Oh, Virginia, I cannot understand how that gorgeous birdy was rejected once, let alone twice! It is beautiful. I absolutely love it! I love the imperfect orange background. I love the bird. I love the layout. And I love that twine. I could go on and on, also. That is a WOW card.

I like it! I love how you stamped over the paint! :> And I so love your scramble card! The joys and sorrows of submitting! :> I didn't have anything picked up from either magazine yesterday and it stung a bit but whatever I have before and I will again. I will not let it make me think that I am not good enough I am. And so are you! Make sure to share each card you make, un choosen or just for fun made! :>

I have a couple of cards that been un-chosen twice as well. Yes... ouchy is the word. :)But, I still love the card. And your un-chosen cards are fab. Love the texture on the 1st card.

great idea! unchosen sounds much more realistic. it's not like they send a reject email for each card that doesn't make it, so reject is a tad harsh. great cards and great attitude. i look forward to all of your cards, unchosen or not :)

Unchosen is such a nicer word to me as well. Rejection is hard. :-( I love the orange card with the bold black sentiment! Scramble=pure happiness! Awesome designs!

Darling birdie card, Virginia! Let's not even say "unchosen" since it's clearly meant for other work, like inspiring us at your blog! That works, doesn't it?

Fun Scramble card too - I love those leaves and the buttons add the perfect touch - yes, so YOU!

It's a good thing cards don't have feelings, because a lot of them would feel really bad:) I love the
2nd card-so cute!

Virginia, I have no idea what criteria they use to select cards, but if I were choosing I wouldn't reject this one!

How about loved but not forgotten? You know me - I would choose every card you ever made and publish your own magazine! I honestly don't get why some are chosen and others not. I happen to love that sweet bird and thought the lack of color in spots is so organic!

Virginia that orange bird card is AMAZING! I love the uneven paint and the pretty printed bird. The twine goes perfectly with it! I think it's Fantastic! Your second card is beautiful too! Love the layout with the dp strips cute bird and adorable buttons!

Trinh said...

I love the painted background on that first one, Virginia! Yes, they are never rejects; as long as we are happy with what we create, that's all that matters.

Lindsey said...

I think using the word "reject" gives perfectly good cards an inferiority complex. Un-chosen seems much better.
I'm with you, the orange background is perfect for your newsprint bird! Your hour-long card is great, too. Lots of fun elements!

I think your un-chosen card should have been chosen! :) I love the painted background with that bird. Your scramble card is awesome. Love the added buttons and bird. Super cute!

I like your thinking on that one...reject does sound awfully harsh and not very nice. The bright orange really is beautiful! It's a perfect card to me!!
