RIC #10...and "Promposal"!

The latest Runway Inspired Challenge has inspired me---again.
Yup, resistance is futile!
sending love your way
I used the Lawn Fawn stamp you've got mail for this design. I did some masking with the Cosmic Spray mist (gold) for that strip of golden shimmer. I would have NEVER thought of doing a design like this if it weren't for the inspiration photo. Love that about these super creative challenges!
edited: this card was featured in the Lawn Fawn Blog (see here).

Lastly, a little fun share about my son David's "promposal".For those who do not know what a promposal is...it's like a marriage proposal except this is all about asking a girl to the prom. I am fairly new to this. Apparently it is a big deal nowadays! In my dinosaur days back when I was growing up in Taiwan, there was no prom, let alone promposal! I was born in the wrong era (LOL)!

David "proposed" to Lily in the middle of the French class (with the teacher's consent) and she happily said "yes"! David, being the new genius baker in our house, made the pizza-size cookie!  Well, the dress card was MY work and the icing part was from Stephanie! It truly was a little joint effort!
When the French teacher Miss B. asked if David made the giant cookie...and David promptly replied:" Yes! Oui !". The most enthusiastic Miss B.quickly declared in front of the class: " Forget about the prom, just marry him!!" This really cracked me up! Isn't it grand to be young?
Hope you are having a great day!

Virginia, your card is beautiful! Awesome response to the inspiration.

I have never heard of a "promposal", but it sounds like David pulled it off perfectly! What a romantic fellow he is. :-)

I don't know Virginia, it may have been a bit less stressful in the pre-promposal days! But on to the card... I love it! So artistic! It is easy to see how the pic inspired you, yet it's unique. ♥!

What a interesting looking card, I love the little details. I spent a few minutes taking it all in, trying to figure out how you did it. The gems are a sweet touch to a cool card, it's graphic but still warm. Does that make sense. And if DEBBY clicks on your card, send her my way! Hehe

Oh, and a young man who is sweet to women means he was raised by good parents, I am glad she said yes, will you post photos???

Have you seen the newest Piano Guys video?? It's up and it's awesome! :)

Oh Virginia, I am LAUGHING SO HARD right now!! That French teacher should go out to dinner with your family on Fridays!! She'd fit in, GREAT!! :) LOVED the creative way that David asked Lily to the prom!! The cookie looks DELICIOUS!! Your dress is DARLING, too. Nice job on the icing, Stephanie! :) Dr. John was earning the $$$ to pay for everything, right? LOVED your card, too. You are the BEST!! :)

Funny! I haven't heard of a proposal either. Very interesting how the kids make things their own with new trends. I really like your card. The color combinations and the idea of travel really make it a great look.

Virginia, love your posts! The promposal story is cracking me up! (And I'm so impressed with your son's courage to do that in front of the entire class!!!) Hope they have a fantastic time!

Oh, and your card is great, as usual! This challenge kind of scared me with the gold... I love that you took inspiration, but weren't too literal with it!!!

(PS -- your recent posts had me convinced that I needed to try out some alcohol ink -- so I bought some today (3 colors) -- haven't tried it yet, but I'll be sure to keep you posted (if my attempts prove to be post-worthy!!) :)

I always sidetracked with your family thingy than your cards! I need to be more focused! LOL ;-)

David's romantic and sweet nature definitely comes from you and Dr. John, Virginia!! I'm sure Lily was bowled over by his "promposal!"

What a fabulous take on that inspiration photo! Love the gold mist and you have just enough of that chocolate brown and orange to frame the card.

Oh, my! Virginia, your card has even more style than the model! Seriously. Love all the colors and details. As for prom - it was the '60's for us and we were anti-establishment, so nobody signed up for it. Funny how things return....thanks for sharing.
