CAS-ual Fridays #57

It's CAS-ual Fridays time again!
theme: use acetate or vellum
sponsor: our very own super talented DT Karolyn Loncon
The prizes are amazing (details here)

For my card, I chose to use vellum. The bird was embossed in white over vellum and then cut out.
Just Saying Hello
About the sentiment: My original plan was just to stamp the sentiment on top in black. But then I made a boo boo ( I was upset when that happened). So I tried to cover up (yup, erase the evidence!!) the sentiment with the stamped vellum. When I was placing it over the boo-boo, I noticed that it might be kind of nice to have it offset a bit. So this is how that "design" came about. Sometimes that's how a "brilliant" idea was born... :)

Hope you can join the fun with us! Please link up your CAS project  CAS-ual Fridays by noon, Eastern time on June 21 Thursday.

edited: I will announce the winners for ""Yes, Virginia...I am Inspired " Challenge and "comment to win" for my Moxie Fab Feature on 12:30am June 16, Eastern time!

That bird is so super cool and so is that paper strip! Didn't get to play last week but going to try my hardest this time.

Love the oops...the shadow feel of the sentiment is gorgeous.

Love how balanced the design is with the sentiment and the strip of paper at the bottom.

Isn't that funny, when mistakes turn into a new idea? I love that :) Well, not while it's still a mistake, but you know what I mean!
I love the neat element at the bottom, with the 'flag ends' folded back like that. Too cool!

Love that sentiment - only YOU would tell us it came from a mistake. Always learning, eh? Love this card with a touch of elegance. I should play along - vellum has always scared me. You used it beautifully!

Sweet card, V - love that shade of blue.....and I'm all for fixing boo-boos - would never have known that's what happened if you hadn't told us. This challenge sounds like a fun one!

I love the bird Virginia...so cute! I don't own any vellum or acetate, so I'm going to have to do something, since I LOVE CAS-ual Fridays challenges! Maybe using wax paper?
Have a nice day!

I never would have known that was a boo boo if you hadn't confessed. :) Love the white embossing on vellum, but your super cool pearl/paper strip embellishment at the bottom is my favorite!

Thanks for all your kind comments over at my blog :) It's always nice to get feedback on my cards.

I like the shadow effect you've created and I wouldn't have known it was a boo boo if you didn't say. I love the white stamped bird on the vellum. I'm always loving your cards.

Have a great weekend!

love it and I really really love that bird stamp, ugh I'm going to have to just go get it after seeing all of the beautiful projects you've done with it! And I love the boo boo fix, I totally had that happen on a card of mine on the sentiment and I have used a pen to try and cover it up, but don't you just hate when you get everything else looking just right and the sentiment smears or doesn't work like it is suppose to? I was getting so frustrated tonight! So happy to see it happens to others too!

You know, I really thought you intentionally did that shadow effect with the sentiment until I read that it was a boo-boo. It reminds me of the Shadow Stamp post at A Blog Named Hero. I love how it turned out and the embossed birdie is so cute!

Take card and I hope you have a fabulous weekend! xo

"In life there are no mistakes, just happy accidents." I wish I could claim the originality of this statement, but your accidents are always beautiful and no one would ever know! I LOVE the sentiment - I love the whole card. It's so pretty! Happy Father's Day, Dr. John! And V, have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Marcy
