Stamping Plaids!

I know, I know Valentine's Day is over...but I just love making cards with hearts and pink/red combo. Well, who doesn't?

With Ryan dressed in a plaid shirt, that gives me an idea....
AND since my blog friend Laura Bassen is the EXPERT on stamping plaid , I just want to incorporate plaid into my design...with all that, here is my little card.
I have you in my heart
This was the card from me to Dr. John for his Valentine's Day card. The sentiment is from an old Hero Arts set is called All Occasion Messages - CL272 (thanks, Barb!!). The plaids? I used the scraps from a cling stamp set and cut it up to 4 inch strip.I did some water-coloring over the embossed heart.
Ding---> I really like to embellish cards with twines. They do not add much bulk to the card, yet it is so easy to tie into a design. Look for twines, jute and strings in your stash. They are the unsung heros!

PS: Are you tired of the Ryan posters? I guess I got carried away, huh? Post less of him maybe?
edited: and no... Dr. John is not jealous (LOL)!
Thanks for stopping by!

Love how you used the plaid stamping to frame your fabulous heart, V! It's a beautiful card and I'll bet Dr John loved it! :)

(I have that Hero Arts stamp set and it's called, All Occasion Messages - CL272.)

Virginia, when Ryan is asking me to stamp plaid all over him, I will NEVER tire of him, LOL! (I think I just snorted out loud when I read this one). Oops, I'm a little distracted... I love your card, too! ;-)

Love this artistic card Virginia, and it's great to see someone stamping those plaids in a different way. :-)

Your blog should reflect aspects of your personality, so if Ryan is a part of that then keep his words of wisdom coming! :-)

But me personally, I'm a Robert Downey Jr girl. :-)

Are you nuts?! I click over to your blog whenever I see one of Ryan's pictures! They make my day!!! hahahaha! (:

Lovely "plaid" card!!! I really like the colors and the embossed text forming a heart! Very clever. And I agree, twine, jute and strings are heroes! (:

Ryan never did it for me so, yes, I won't miss him when he leaves your blog pages. Dr John has far more adorability AND character in his face than Ryan ever will, anyway . . .

Hi Virgina, I follow your blog but I must admit, I really don't comment much. I'm breaking my silence today for two reasons, first to say, fabulous card! And also to say, I get a total kick out of your Ryan pictures, so post as many as you want!

Never thought to do plaid stamping but I love the idea. Also love Ryan...I mean the posters. I'm new to your blog and I think it was the one about finding the Michaels receipts that hooked me; now I'm a follower. No, I'm not tired of him. I'm planning to go back and read all your posts to get a real Ryan fix, and, of course, enjoy your cards, which are terrific. And the travel stories. Great mix.

You've done it again - now, why did I toss out those rubber scraps?! Gotta think more creatively. This is adorable - so glad you love the plaid! Me too.

I love all the texture on this card. The stamped water colored heart is a stunning focal point and the breathtaking plaid border really pulls it all together...an absolutely gorgeous card.

Ahh, the watercolor heart gives such a great effect on your card, love it!!

I must say, I giggled to myself thinking about stamping plaid on Ryan, and what he would think about one of us card makers coming at him : )

I would like to put my vote in for never getting tired of Ryan. Ever. Between him, the beautiful cards, and the good stories, what more could I ask for? Although, Sherry from Young House Love made two memes about her own husband recently (http://www.younghouselove.com/2013/02/lets-get-some-love-up-in-this-house/) - and that was pretty fun too, so you could totally transition over to Dr. John (I'm sure he would appreciate that).
