Rough and Tumble!

If there is anyone that can be described as Rough and Tumble, Ryan is IT!
Have you seen this issue yet?
I am lucky to have one card in this issue and you can see it in this preview link.  It's under the Rough and Tumble section. Here is a chance to win a copy! I consider myself lucky because when the submission call was going on back in June, I was in the middle of the Gallery Idol rounds. And that was the one and only card that I submitted.

Remember the first round for Gallery Idol ? The challenge was to make a card that pays homage to Dad. This was the card that I submitted.
For You , Dad
And thankfully, it got me to the next round. But did you know...the submitted card was not my first try? The following card was my first attempt. After a voting within my family, it was voted OFF. Yup, this was the "reject". I thought today is a perfect day to share it with you :) Father knows best
It seems quite common that Dads are generally into Geography, at least it is the case in my household. The stamps (Map of America) is from Hero Arts, sentiment is from SRM Stickers. Emboss Resist has always been my favorite technique. I think this serves a fine example.

I am trying to get my mojo back. My creative juices left me as soon as Cath left Moxie Fab World, so to speak. What are the challenge blogs that you are into? Do you miss inspiration photo challenge as much as I do?  Just wondering. Mind you, there is always Runway Inspired Challenge (details here), yay!

Thanks for allowing me to share! Your visit and comments always make me smile!

Yay for publications! I love today's card, but definitely the one that got you in is my favorite. I haven't had a ton of time to play challenges lately, but I am hoping to do some more PTI, WMS, and WPlus9 challenges soon!

I think both cards are pretty fab and that emboss resist is awesome and even has a certain topography look to it as well...pretty cool! My fave to play with is sketches so CAS(E) this Sketch and Freshly Made Sketches are my go to!

Love these "dude" cards! Love Ryan too! Congrats on your pubs!

Great cards, Virginia. I especially love the one with map.

And that Ryan Gosling thing is pretty funny. I had a hard time adjusting my sleep schedule this last time. (It must be age) I was so grumpy for a couple days that I probably would've bloodied the guy myself. ;)

Congrats on the awesome cards you have had published, Virgina! The masculine cards are perfect.
PS: I may not be an editor of any of these mags, but in my humble opinion ALL of your cards are fabulous!! :-)

Hi, Virginia! I love that map card, just wonderful...congrats on your publication, too! Well deserved, for sure! I agree, there is a void with Cath and the Moxie Fab World gone...and I miss Play Date Cafe, too! I did discover the Shabby Tea Room and they have really pretty photo inspirations for their challenges. (A gorgeous one this week!)

LOVE your card in the mag, V! it's amazing! but seriously, this one is pretty cool, too. beautiful inking on the background. it's the prefect example for emboss resist! you are just amazing, girl! i know your mojo is always with you, you just need to play! i think Simon's challenges are fun and i do like a couple of the sketch challenges (CAS(E) this Sketch, Seize the Sketch), but i think you don't usually work with sketches? give them a try and see how it goes and have fun! =)

Well done Virginia. You do masculine cards beautifully. Love that your "reject" card make the grade for the mag.

Love Runway, although I rarely participate due to fluctuating mojo. 10 minute craft dash always catches me eye and any other color challenges along the way. I have no idea why your "Geography" card was voted off, but I think it's beautiful. Your "suit" card though is awesome.

Congrats on your publication!!! I really love this map card! The inking on the embossing really pops and yet it's still very masculine! Can't believe your family voted against it.

Yay! I love this card and so happy to have a card in the same magazine as you!!! You have been such a huge inspiration to me and thank you for always keeping me going and being so kind!

I enjoyed your sharing post very much, Virginia! Congratulations on the publication! Of course, the GI card for Dad is out of this world, but I actually like the map-of-the-world Dad card, too!

As far as inspiration, don't you think a lot of the slow down in juices is just this time of year? Everyone is (rightfully) fully into Christmas and, for me, anyway, I like to change up the theme, like RIC, for instance, but it's hard to stray too far from Christmas. It's just a thought. While not having Cath is depressing, for sure, I think we'll get fired up again after the holidays and all of life's busyiness slows down. Hugs, Darnell

I always love how amazing your rejects are, and I do appreciate that you share them so we can see your process. I love that you were published - not something to which I aspire, but I know it means a great deal. You rock big-time! Love that map and that technique. With all of your recent travels it is most appropriate!

Well, I love both cards, so for me it would have been very difficult to
choose ;-) Congrats on the publication!!! For me, this is the first time I'm being published so I'm over the moon, yay!!!

I remember both of these cards!! Love the watercolouring on the map card but the suit one hands-down is my favourite. Possibly my favourite of all your cards!!
