The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

This morning I made a quick card for the Hero Arts Flickr Group Scramble challenge (details here).
The scramble challenge today is to create a card with:

1. ONE OR MORE WHITE FLOWERS
2. SCRIPT (or cursive) style SENTIMENT
3. USING THIS PHOTO for inspiration.

Inspiration Photo Scramble 85 by paperpicnic (Jayne)

I was not feeling it...and this was my result. I realized that the colors are too bright and the white flowers barely show. What was I thinking? I disliked it so much that I didn't even want to post it!

So here comes the UGLY
Despite my complaint, the group urged me to share my quick card. To my surprise, quite a few of them seemed to like it! Perhaps they were just being nice and tried to make me feel less bad about this super bright card (LOL). That definitely was the GOOD!  Hubby jokingly said that I was merely seeking compliments...That rascal...so that was the BAD. Dr. John is going to sleep in the dog house (too bad we don't have one) the basement!!!!

I hope this post makes you smile. There will more exciting posts coming in the next few days! I can't wait to share my projects (that I LOVE) with you.
Thanks for stopping by!

Should I be embarrassed that I was going to pin this because I love the look of the bright sponging and the supposedly-barely-there white flowers?! Now that I've read the story, not sure I should case it! lol! Tell Dr John I'm sorry he'll be cold in the basement tonight! lol!

Virginia, it is a fun card, and surely would make the recipient smile. I love the bright sponging in contrast to the embossing. So glad you posted.

haha...not just being nice, really liked the card. Your idea of ugly and mine are 2 different things!

Ugly?!!...I see NO ugly, here! I LOVE this! So pretty!
And I can't blame you for putting your husband in the basement! lol I would do the same to my husband! Though, we don't have a basement, nor a dog house, so he would just have to be outside! lol ;)
Really though, I'm so glad you shared this!

You might have been unhappy with it as the colours are brighter than the picture but I think it's superb. Love the bright colours.

You are too hard on yourself!! This card is lovely. I like the brighter colors you used. And you can so see the white of the flowers. Fantastic card!!

Well it's brighter than the inspiration photo but it is gorgeous. I really like it.

Such a fun card, Virginia - just love the white flowers within the blue and pink blocks. The embossed dots look great too! The photo was for inspiration - this is how you were inspired, GO WITH IT! Hope you're comfy in the basement, Dr. John!

Oh Virginia you're too critical about your own work!! Like I said in the flickr group, I thought it's the most 'outside of the box' design of all the entries! I think the way you did the white flowers is really innovative! You should be proud!!!

I actually really like it, especially the gorgeous inking on the edges of the pink and blue ones. Not ugly at all!!!

It's a great card Virginia! I don't believe you can ever make an ugly card!

Your card is very striking, Virginia. It reminds me of being outside on a bright and sunny day and looking at flowers and butterflies. It's not ugly at all. Hopefully, Dr. John made up for his comment so as to not be left out in the cold, so to speak :)

I think it's great. Nice and bright, cheerful. It may not have been what you were going for, but it is DELIGHTFUL!

If this is the UGLY, I'm gonna be knocked off my seat with the LOVED cards.
Has Stephanie gotten home safely?

It's funny how some of our least favorite cards end up being some of the more popular ones. I actually really, really like this card and was so surprised to hear how much you hated it. I love the gradient inking and LOVE the bit of embossing at the bottom...that is soooo cool! I think the color combo really works! You are too hard on yourself!

You always make me smile and I LOVE your card! I love its freshness, how balanced and unique it is, I love the depth you've created and the beautiful stamping...I really don't see what's not to love about the card ;))

Yes, Dr. John needs to spend some time in the basement, because this card is absolutely lovely! I'm not sure what you dislike: it's pretty, innovative, unique. The colour combination is wonderful, especially with the pink/blue squares sharing similar features (need I say anything about the butterfly...you know my response - and I'm sooo glad that I'm not the only one who loves them!). Stunning card...the good, the better and the best, in my view!
