A Video on Emboss Resist and How I Filmed My Video!

Yes, there is a video for you today!
But first I must tell you that I did NOT have the proper set up when I did my first video ( see here).
I had the camera stationed with a Gorillapod on a tripod...It was a good setup, except I had to sit BEHIND the tripod when I made the video. Needless to say, it was hard to see what I was doing....
After complaining to Dr. John about the technical difficulty of filming a little You Tube video, he came up with an outlandish idea. He suggested to make a structure with Lego!! I was, of course, very skeptical...I was thinking: " Yeah, right, there you go, Lego again?  You've got to be kidding (LOL)".

And then this was what he came up with.
Shall I say it works like a DREAM!!? Not only is it portable, it keeps the camera steady and I can zoom in when I need to. It's FREE ( except for the bricks) AND... I can see while I create for the video! SCORE!  So You can be sure that I will keep at it and hopefully I will make better videos!

Here are the two cards that I created for my 2nd video.
You have been very kind and encouraging about my first stamping video. I felt so encouraged!
 Here is my first card.
heartfelt thanks
Yay, go, me! Well, this video is nothing too spectacular, but I took this as a chance to learn and try something new for myself.
You can see the You Tube video here

 For the video taping:
001-4:34 -- tripod (before photo)
4:35- 5:25--Lego (after photo)
I hope that you understand my broken English and rambling tutorial on "Emboss Resist"...I promise to improve as I go along. Just bear with me, OK?

The is the card I made during the video.
you are amazing
I am still digesting...soaking in this BIG announcement

my happy dance
 Thanks for stopping by!

You did a SPLENDID job, Virginia. You need make no apologies for anything at all: your diction was clear, your instructions concise, and what little accent you have is a delight. I hope you never lose it! As for Dr John's tower, this is an amazing idea indeed. I'll bet that other aspiring "videographers" will find they can save some money and have fun making this usable work-around. Super nice job, Virginia - I'm looking forward to all of your future videos!

Great video there. It was easy to see everything you did and it's hard to speak and do the creating at the same time - GREAT JOB.

I can't believe the LEGO idea, but hey, it works! Now that's thinking out of the box - congrats to Dr. John.
And also congratulations on the SSS team. You're a fantastic edition.

Hugs to you!

Your husband is super smart. Does he want to make a set up like that for me? LOL. Love the cards. Now off to view your video!!

Harriet said...

Thank you for the video...especially reminding us to be creative in the use of our stuff i.e.. sponges. Seeing your picture of a "happy dance" brought a big smile to my face.

conil said...

What broken English. You speak better that I do, and I was born in this country. What nonsense. You were perfectly wonderful. Plus, the tutorial was very well-done. I'm very appreciative of the tips, such as balancing the finished product with the banner and popping the image with black matting. Each little tip helps me. And then there is Dr. John's Lego genius. That bridge is just brilliant for filming. Amazing that he engineered that for you. Kudos to his fantastic innovation. What an incredibly talented family you have.

Laura Norris said...

Wonderful video Virginia!! You were easy to understand and the tips and tricks you showed were great! Love the Lego camera holder too - so much better than trying to craft around a tri-pod! Way to go Dr. John!

The cards are beautiful.

As far as the broken English goes;
I thought you might like to know that it makes me listen more closely, pay more attention to the video, so I don't miss anything. So I think I actually learn more from your videos.

Love Dr. John's Lego construction.

Gorgeous cards, Virginia, loved to see how you made them, using markers and ink pads... I will have to try this, since I don't remember using both together to color one image.
Dr. John is really funny and ingenious, I guess he wouldn't mind making some shelves, cabinets and a few other structures to help your crafting... as long as they are Lego :D.
Love your picture, such a good vibe!
