A Scene Card

Hello friends!
I just want to pop in to say thank you for the overwhelming responses from yesterday's post. Your kind and generous comments really touch my heart (and my family's). See, this is why I love about blogging...I asked for feedback and I GET feedback. If you have not entered the giveaway post, check the top right side bar.

Today's card is an impromptu post. I have nothing planned. But I can't just make a post without sharing a card, right?
If you think this card is kind of "old-school", why, it is!
By being "old-school", I meant that I created this card more in line with traditional technique/style rather than modern or progressive take.
you're so thoughtful

I made this card almost exactly a year ago. It doesn't seem to be that long ago, but so many things have happened...By that, I meant, things in stamping world.

---> A year ago: there was no MISTI (what's that!?). At least I didn't know of its existence.Watercolors were all the rage (still is), but I was not into Spectrum Aqua markers and I didn't know what Peerless Watercolors were.
---> Currently: I got my small set of Zig Markers just yesterday! Love them and now I can't get enough of them! I have been playing with more and more watercolors..and these days I almost can not stamp without MISTI.
This card was made for the last publication call for PC and S. It was never quite got into the process because Paper Crafts and Scrapbooking was no longer. Another change.

Instructions should read like this (if it ever was in print):
1.     Make card from card stock
2.     Mask the border with post-it note
3.     Emboss the tree in white
4.     Apply distress inks to the background
5.     Stamp the trees in Brown, green and stamps the birds
6.     Add sequins with Glossy Accent

Thanks for hanging out with me today. It's therapeutic to share. Ask me how I know...

Too bad this didn't make into the magazine. The readers really missed out. What a lovely, calming card. Great, vibrant background.

That's beautiful! I had to read the instructions twice - I thought those trees were die cuts. Is it autumn yet? I am so looking forward to cooler weather.

Thank you for your sweet comments,Harriet,Coni,Alana and cm!

Jackie, there is no die cut for this. I used just one of the tree stamp from this set "Nature's Gift". The white ones you see is from embossing. You can create a "forest" with just one stamp!

Virginia, beautiful card, and it seems to be deep. I looked at it very long before I understood, that there were no overlays and die cuts. I can't live without MISTI too, I like the precision it ensures and it is so good for big stamps, no more troubles with presses

This is so pretty. I love the background and that you didn't have all that fancy schmancy stuff to make this. The trees, the stamps are where they lay and just lovely. Beautiful design!!

Virginia, you touch so many with your sweet posts and beautiful cards. The highlight of my day is reading your posts and seeing what you/ve created. I'm amazed at how you just keep everything so fresh and letting us know just how you made a card. Even today ,i was wondering in what order did you do the stamping. Then, there it was !!! You listed the steps you took and I remembered that the white embossing would act as a mask for the distress inks for the background. i'm a senior citizen ++ ,so i love your explanations and am so happy when you do a video. i just bought the Misti and will go back and watch your videos when you explained how to use it.

You are the reason I decided to order the MISTI back in February. I try not to jump on the band wagon of every new product and wait to see if it's just a fad or a really good thing. Well because of all your lovely inspiration I got my hubby to get me a MISTI for Valentine's day. I think it was one the best tools I have EVER got for stamping and cardmaking. I am still holding out getting the zig clean color brushes yet.
