Dry-Embossing with a Die

Hello friends!
Today I am sharing a fun way to s-t-r-e-t-c-h your die.
Have you ever tried dry-embossing with a die?

s

For this technique, you will need an embossing mat like this (Spellbinders Embossing Mats)

s
I am using "Shall We Dance" (Penny Black) as an example.

When you use a die to do the dry-embossing, the paper will not cut through. Instead, it will leave the paper with ridges and leave a good imprint from the dry-embossing. It is much like the Letterpress effect.

For my Cuttlebug recipe (starting from the bottom to top): C Plate, B plate, tan mat, card stock, die (facing down to the paper), B plate.

Each die cut machine has its own way with the dry embossing, you can easily find the one that works for your die cut machine.

You may not see the lines of the flower and stems after watercoloring.  But they are clearly imprinted.
hearfelt thanks

To me, that's another plus because you can easily color the images with the nearly invisible outlines. I didn't pay too much attention to the detailed coloring and merely let the water does its work! I also stamped "Script" at the bottom for extra interest and grounding.
Hope this idea inspires you to try with your dies. I made this card a few weeks ago and was contemplating whether to do a video and decided that I share it in this post today.

Thanks for stopping by!

PS: if you want to see some of my daughter's photos from Uganda, please visit her Flickr photos here. Stephanie took some amazing photos. Be prepared to be in awe of God's creations.

Dreamy...the dry embossing does such an excellent job defining the edges of your flowers. And the colors are magnificent.

Beautifully done Virginia. Great idea to emboss with the dies. I watch Jennifer McGuire do a background with embossed stacking dies. Very on trend.
