I also used the Glossy Accent to highlight the dots in the sea turtles. You have one week to complete the challenge. One lucky winner will get $ 5 Gift certificate for the Treehouse digital images. Hope you can join the fun.Check out theDT work here.

Classy and Elegant-ME?

I didn't think I will or could make "classy and elegant" card....well, it's just not me. But then I was working on the projects for Tiffany Doodles with this LOVELY Daisy Bloom image. ( I LOVE this daisy as you can see from my mew blog banners!!)  Before you know it, I had this card made with a somewhat classy and elegant take, I think.
Thanks very much
This is also the first time that I used the Japanese masking tape that my DD Stephanie bought for me from her trip to Singapore. It adds a very subtle layer over the embossed butterfly paper.
I also used clear Stickles for the edges of the daisy petals.
Just for the fun of it, I am entering this card in the Moxie Fab Let's Do Classy and Elegant Style Challenge (see here). Hope this qualifies in classy and elegant category!
Thanks so much for your encouragement and comments. My family thinks I'm addicted to blogging ...and yeah, card-making, the whole package :) and they are so right!

Souvenirs From Trips....

I thought it would be fun to share the souvenir items that I brought back from UK and Taiwan- my last two big trips. What kind of souvenirs do you buy when you travel? What do you look for in a souvenir?
Here are.... , yup, London!
I managed to buy "something (tea/coffee) from Harrods!
I couldn't pass up these Jane Austin inspired post cards from the National British Library
And then from my trip to Taiwan. I brought these purse note pads! They will inspire me to make some more purse cards! Aren't they cute?
These fancy handmade coin wallets were from my last minute shopping at the Airport in Taiwan.
Last but not the least, it is this Japanese Masking Tape that my DD Stephanie bought me from her summer study trip. She arrived home from Singapore safe and sound last night (YAY!).
I made this card for fun in the last two days...hope you like it !
Happy Sunday!

EtsyInspired Challenge # 98

It's time to be inspired by the shop at EmenGee Designs.
You can just tell that each items are lovingly handcrafted. Enjoy your "eye candy"! The PRIZE is this!
Wouldn't you love that Bumble Bees in a Honeycomb hand embroidered and stamped mini clasp purse!
Our sponsor this week is Robyn's Fetish.
They have a great selection of digital stamps. The winner will receive 3 Robyn's Fetish digital stamps of their choice. Isn't that awesome!? As part of the DT members, we were lucky to be given three digital images to work with. I happen to fall in love with this ChooChoo Charlie Train ( see here ). LOVE how  this card turned out!
I printed out the images on red and white card stock. It was purely incidental as I had JUST those two colors with the printer.
I then paper-pieced the train and kept the color scheme simple. Add the glitter, colors and buttons for the wheels! Voila! Now please check out the DT for more inspiration.

Card with Pinwheels....

This will be the shortest post-EVER! I am working at the family doctor's (aka hubby's) office all this and next week! Getting the phone is the hardest part! To put it  this way....answering the phones is like opening a box of chocolate, because you never know what (who) you are going to get! ". I just took that from Forrest Gump!!
I was playing with my Vertical Cloud stamp. I had so much fun making this pinwheel card (see how-to). The best part is you don't HAVE to make the pinwheels spin in your card, so it's EASY!
don't forget to smile today
Yup, I am reminding myself (with that sentiment) when I am working at the office today and next week  :)

Treehouse Thursday Challenge # 059

This week's Treehouse's challenge (you can shop here)  is watercolor! I must be honest with you that water-coloring is not my forte. However, I did manage to get my watercolors out and decided to keep it simple. I chose to color just one image.
When I made this card, I have one special person in daughter Stephanie (see her photo website here)  ! She is still away in Singapore and that is how I feel when she is not around. This sentiment is also perfect for my son who also feels "crabby" since his playmates will be away on their 3-week vacation! Do you feel crabby? if so, go make a card! I promise you that you'll feel...less crabby happy instantly!
I'm counting down the days for Stephanie to come home. She is arriving this Saturday! Yippee!
And oh....she got me some precious Japanese masking tape from Singapore!! Got to love a daughter like that!!
You have one week to complete the challenge. Hope you will join the fun! Here are the DT member's blogs to get you inspired!

A VIDEO of my travel booklet

Travel booklet (cover) part 1
After my trip to London in May 2010, we came home with assorted ticket stubs and we kept them as souvenirs. They were scattered on our dinning table in a little pile. I had no idea what to do with them. I know I can put them in scrapbook pages, but that will take a lot of pages to hold them all! Thanks to the Hero Arts July challenge, I made a recipe book (see here) and during that process, it also gave me another idea to make a Travel tickets/stubs booklet with lots of pockets. Here's the video that David helped me with. Can you believe it took us a dozen times to get this video just right? It's still not perfect, but it's presentable! I saved the bloopers of the videos ...we all had a good laugh!!
Here are the photos of the booklet.
Travel booklet (part 2)
I made pockets for each page to hold these tickets, such as the admission to Westminster Abbey and our boarding passes. The following one (on the right) with the star brads can be opened with the stretchy ribbons.
Travel booklet (part 3)
I had lots of fun creating these pockets, as you can see! I am glad that the tickets can now be properly displayed in this booklet.
Travel booklet (part 4)
We saved the admissions to London Tower and Phantom of the Opera! All four of us even got a FREE upgrade to take the flight home from London to Toronto in FIRST class!
Travel booklet (part 5)
By looking at these tickets, we know where we left our footsteps and what a fabulous time we had.
Museums, theater and China Town!
Travel booklet (part 6)
Thank you for taking this little "journey" with me!

I always like the modern, hip, clean and crisp designs. Often I would show my cards to my DD Stephanie. She seems to have a good sense what a modern and cool (or shall we say, uncluttered) layout is like! I made a card for Moxie Fab World's Clean & Graphic! Challenge. Also I'm entering it for the current Hero Arts challenge (see here).
I colored the light pink chipboard colored it with red copics and slowly, I came up with the design.
This Sundae image was part of a big stamp set that I have for a long time, but I have never played with it until today!
Thanks to the fabulous video from Lucy (see here), I knew I had to have some fun with it.  My Flickr comments about this card can be seen here.
I I had so much fun cutting out this Daisy image last night and I just want to share with you here...
happy birthday to you
I made this card for the Carrdvarks Challenge (see here). The daisy image is from Tiffany Doodles (see Daisy Bloom-W/Blossom). The sentiment is from SRM Stickers
Have yourself a SWEET SUNDAY!

A Love Story-the card!

In my previous post (see A Love Story), I mentioned that I was making a card about the love story. We all have a love story somewhere, don't we?  It's just a simple card, but every little detail seems to take longer to plan out. I want to keep the color scheme and design simple. Being simple is actually hard to do! Does that even make sense?
I am entering this card for Moxie Fab World's Let's Do Fun and Cute  challenge. According to the definition in MF world blog: " What makes a fun and cute card? To begin with--a happy color scheme, a sweet sentiment, and an uncomplicated design. Throw in some whimsy (like cartoons and doodles), a few simple shapes (like hearts and stars), some friendly patterns (like polka dots and gingham), and voila! There's a smile on your face and a song in your heart that's unmistakably fun and cute."
I'm not sure if I had achieve just that. But "fun and cute style" is definitely my cup of tea!
 a love story
The fish image is from Tiffany Doodles (see 3 Fish-Freebie Thursday). Aren't they adorable? The silver fish is  my DH John who is from the West (Canada) and I'm the orange fish from the East (Taiwan). Sometimes I still can't believe how we met in that hot summer of 1983 in Taiwan.
I used my Nesties that are shaped like a storybook since it's "story". I also used the versatile SRM Stickers for the sentiment. It's funny how I connect my love story to a card! Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
