I {heart} Sweets!

I am sharing some yummy photos...I have been on a kick for making pies and cookies lately.
Martha Stewart's Double Chocolate Cookies
 Chocolate Pecan Pie
Here is the recipe for the filling (for those who are interested): MELT the following in double boiler: 3 oz/squares unsweetened chocolate, 1 cup corn syrup, 3 tbsp. butter, 3/4 C. sugar, 3 eggs (lightly beaten), then add 1 tsp vanilla, 1 cup pecan. bake in 350F for 40-45 min. You can use any store-bought pie crust (I always make my own).
How did I get started on making pies? After I got married, I noticed Dr. John has a thing for pies! It was rather easy for me to do. I get lots and lots of practice and get better as I go. Over the years, I had made and given pies to friends and neighbors. And now I have passed on my love of baking to my son David. Isn't his Lemon Meringue Pie whimsical? Also, he rocks at making Lemon Squares!
I miss Peach Pie from this past summer.
I can't wait to try making Strawberry Rhubarb Pie again. It's going to be a long winter!
For now, I have the good old-fashioned Pecan Pie to be content with. Hope you get time to make something yummy this weekend!

What is Dr. John Thinking?

Dr. John (While reading the news): Hey, did you hear that the local Home Depot is in the news..?
V: WHAT!? How could that be!?
Dr. John: Apparently the paint department is really popular...but their actual sales are poor.
V: VERY funny.....LOL

Well, I am not banned from the paint here we go again! Hope you are not getting tired of them! I took photos of my creating process...

Hello! It's Day 2 of the new release from Fresh Squeezed Stamps. This set called "Take a Number" is the perfect way for you to personalize your sentiment with a fun twist!
you're 1 of a kind
I used the new darling penguin image called "Arctic Friends" (from yesterday's release) and matched it with the sentiment (you are 1 of a kind). Super fun and easy to do! You can pretty much create any fun image with the sentiment. I went for the cute and girly look.

Fresh Squeezed Stamps New Release (Day 1)

Welcome! Today is Day 1 of Fresh Squeezed Stamps' November New release. This set called "Arctic Friends" is a LOT of fun. My card only tapped into one of the many possibilities...
from wallrus-001
It is plain to see that I masked and stamped the walrus in assorted colors! I added a clear button with solid inks. How fitting is that sentiment?

Diecut with Paint Chips!

Happy Sunday! I am sharing a card that I made this weekend. It all started with the new stamp that I have not inked up. The Roma stamp (from Hero Arts) provides a lovely map background for the design. I decided to incorporate my latest obsession--paint chips!
I like how the paint chip shows through the diecut letters! I used therm-o-Web SuperTape and add a strip of Martha Stewart white glitter. I also stamped Across the Miles/plane images from The Envelope Please (Fresh Squeezed Stamps).
edited: I have added InLinkz in the following and have added all the cards that I made with paint chips. The collection will run till Christmas! If you have any paint chip-inspired cards, please link them up! I would love to visit your work!

Hello! Are you into sequins as much as I am? Yes, since the trend started, I had acquired many sequins in several colors and sizes.
Holiday Cheer
I decided to use sequins in different shades of green and built a Christmas tree!
See the close-up (silver droplets of Liquid Pearl was added on top)
Tree image is from A Wee Christmas (Fresh Squeezed Stamp).
Ding---> choose a simple shape and add sequins! Sounds simple enough, right? In fact, I think this is such an effective ways to use sequins! Use any shape/diecut or stamped image... I bet you will come up with something fun and festive!

Another Paint Chip Card!

Hello! Thank you for all the wonderful comments on my last paint chip card (see here). I was so encouraged by you all, I made another one!
you ae loved
I love the detailed image (Pretty Peonies from Jane's Doodles)! I thought a colorful background will suit the design. With the gold embossing, this card came together rather easily.

As long as the hardware store doesn't ban me from taking paint chips, there is no stopping of me making cards with paint chips!

Rough and Tumble!

If there is anyone that can be described as Rough and Tumble, Ryan is IT!
Have you seen this issue yet?
I am lucky to have one card in this issue and you can see it in this preview link.  It's under the Rough and Tumble section. Here is a chance to win a copy! I consider myself lucky because when the submission call was going on back in June, I was in the middle of the Gallery Idol rounds. And that was the one and only card that I submitted.

Remember the first round for Gallery Idol ? The challenge was to make a card that pays homage to Dad. This was the card that I submitted.
For You , Dad
And thankfully, it got me to the next round. But did you know...the submitted card was not my first try? The following card was my first attempt. After a voting within my family, it was voted OFF. Yup, this was the "reject". I thought today is a perfect day to share it with you :) Father knows best
It seems quite common that Dads are generally into Geography, at least it is the case in my household. The stamps (Map of America) is from Hero Arts, sentiment is from SRM Stickers. Emboss Resist has always been my favorite technique. I think this serves a fine example.

I am trying to get my mojo back. My creative juices left me as soon as Cath left Moxie Fab World, so to speak. What are the challenge blogs that you are into? Do you miss inspiration photo challenge as much as I do?  Just wondering. Mind you, there is always Runway Inspired Challenge (details here), yay!

Thanks for allowing me to share! Your visit and comments always make me smile!

Runway Inspired Challenge #48

BWS tips button
Hello gorgeous!
Sponsor: Ellen Hutson
When I saw the inspiration photo, I thought of this older stamp Large Flower Background
Since I don't use enough of that stamp, it seem fitting to get it out and play. I water-colored the images with TH Distress Inks ( Victorian Velvet, Antique Linen)  and then colored some more with Prisma color pencils. The sentiment is from SRM Stickers. I purposely left it as partially-colored (hope you didn't think that I was being sloppy--LOL).
Hope you check out my DT mates inspiring work (see here)!

Having Fun with Sentiment Dies!

Hello! Today I am sharing two cards using the same set of dies. This set called Thank You Heart Dies (from Simon Says Stamps) truly is intricate and versatile. I think you can use it all year round! BIG thanks to Laura Bassen for gifting me this (among many goodies) diecut while I visited her in Chicago
I diecut the image in three different colors and then assembled the pieces like a puzzle.
From me to you
With pattern paper (American Crafts) and stamping (Fresh Squeezed Stamps), this card was complete! The hardest part was to decide which color goes where. And then I used the left over pieces and came up with this design...which was totally unintentional. Love that!
thank you
I simply layered and overlapped the three pieces just slightly (let the colors show through) and added the solid orange heart diecut for the background. Voila!
edited: just noticed that Simon Says Stamps is having a Thanksgiving/Thanks Challenge, I am entering it just for fun.
 Thanks for stopping by!

Paint Chip Card...Inspired By Marcy!

Hello, dear friends! I don't know about you, but I have been having a sense of emptiness since Cath stepped down from Moxie Fab World. I miss Moxie Fabber of the week, I miss Tuesday Trigger and I miss the daily posts of enchanting photos...etc. I never realized how that had an impact on me until now. The last few days have been a bit of blah in my craft room. It was not until I stumbled into my friend Marcy's post (see here).  I finally have a little pick-me-up!
Thank you, Marcy, for making me feel the LOVE! With Marcy's paint chip card, I was inspired to make another one!
Here is Marcy's paint chip card with gold embossing.
Isn't it sophisticated and gorgeous? Here is my take:warm wishes
I embossed the snowflakes in gold and white and then, I stamped in white Colorbox chalk ink. With the warm color palette, this card came together very easily.
