Just Breathe

Hello friends!
I am sharing a card that I made for Heidi Swapp who recently had lost her 2nd son.
It is tragic and devastating to have lost a child. No words can ever describe the pain.
As I get older, I realize life has its ebbs and flows, no one is immune to painful lessons in life.
It's God and love ones that can lift your spirit and carry you through.

No, Heidi doesn't know me, but I did meet her in 2012 Scrapfest in Minneapolis. Back then, I hardly knew who Heidi was! Her beautiful merchandise was not available at Michael's here in Canada. And since I am not a scrapbooker, I knew little about that side of crafting and this was 3 long years ago. At the time, only when a friend from the hotel noticed Heidi in the Mall of America and asked to have a photo with her, so I did, too!

Heidi was so sweet and we had a quick photo together.
I just loved how easy, approachable and interesting to talk to Heidi even for a few minutes.
I printed out the words "just breathe" from Heidi's FB share (and see here) and created a card.
just breathe
The card has been mailed out to Heidi amongst the hundreds of cards that she is/will be getting.
I need to let Heidi know that the pain she is suffering is a little less painful when we share her sorrow. I get all teary as I typed this.
We all need to --- just breathe.

One Layer Wonder-100% Stamped!

Hello friends!
If you are in the mood for stamping, then this is the perfect post for you.
If you see this stamp set "My precious", you might think that you need to COLOR the images?

Well, not necessarily.
You see, I love coloring and I am not against coloring at all. However, there are times that you simply CAN do things in a different way, so why not?
Today's card is all about simple stamping and no coloring.
you are my rock

About this card:
1. use the backside the smaller diamond stamps. Because of the way the stamp was cut, they are perfect for back-stamping!
2. mask the borders. Just cut 4 even strips of paper and adhere them with Washi Tape. BEST DIY masking!
3. stamp in multiple colors. This is when MISTI comes in handy! It CAN be done without MISTI ( just be brave, aim and stamp!).
4. Squeeze out a small amount of Stickles on scrap paper, apply Stickles the diamonds with a paint brush
PS: if you still need a visual about using the backside of stamps, here is my You Tube video to help you understand how I stamped this card.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Another Nautical Card

Hello friends!
Can you believe that summer is almost coming to an end?
I am not going  to dwell on that, but instead, I will share the last Nautical card for this year.

This card is nearly 100% water-colored.
she stood in the storm
This is one great thing about watercoloring. It is very liberating to use watercolors, especially with creating the sea water. I started out with the darkest shades of blue and gradually built up the shades of blue. The sail boat was completely colored with Spectrum Aqua Markers.
Enjoy the rest of the summer.
Don't forget to enter and comment in my giveaway post (see top right side bar under the blog banner).
Here is a Craftsy class "Lovely Layered Cards From Top to Bottom" that you might want to check out. Thanks for stopping by!

Another Flower Card with The Ton Stamps

Hello friends! How is summer treating you?
I can't believe that it is the end of August.
How is your garden growing?
It's time to share another card with this stamp set "Fresh Cut Peonies" from the ton.
Here was the previous one that I share last month.
(click on the photo and it will take you to the right post).

Here is my 2nd card from the same stamp set. This time I used the smaller closed blooms.
think happy thoughts
I stamped the vase a few times with the help of MISTI. I then cut out the vase in positive and negative images (on a piece of thin paper). I then used the cutout as my MASK. Basically I created a stencil , so I can ink up the water with distress Inks.

Once I got the vase stamped and inked, I started stamping the flowers as if I am making a flower arrangement. During this process, I think about colors, layers and composition.
Finally, I stamped the sentiment and added the tiny flakes of sequins from Martha Stewart. I also added Tea Garden pattern paper to bring out the colors more. Hope you like it!

Lastly, I just want to share some Craftsy classes with you. There are a few that are on sale right now. If the class is valued around $15-$20, then it is a great deal!

(just click on the following photo and it will take you right to the classes)

I am sending you happy thoughts you way. Thanks for stopping by!
