One Layer with Stencil and Stamp

Hello friends!

Sometimes new products intrigue me (and yea, there are A TON out there!!) and I would try the new goodies out and see how it goes... Today's post is one of those.

I first saw this Wendy Vecchi Bird on a Branch Stencil and Stamp and immediately I knew that I want to see what I can do with it. The neat thing about this stencil is that the outlines of the stamp match perfectly with the stencil. So instead of coloring the stamped image with markers or copics, you can apply colors with a brush/ sponge and stencil instead.

Heartfelt Thanks-001

I actually started the wood-grain stencil first and left the borders and center in blank/white. I then stamped the images and applied the stencil with inks. Of course, I worked on it -- one little area at a time. Since the images are quite small and detailed, I strongly recommend a small stencil brush like this or this. If your budget allows you, this Cadillac version of stencil brushes is the way to go. It is on my wish list, too.

After I finished adding colors, I decided to take it up a notch. Since it's covered with a stencil, I use the Stampendous Boss Gloss Ink Embossing Ink to cover the bird and clear-embossed it. The Boss Gloss Embossing Ink is handy when you want to emboss a small and controlled area (such as the bird). I had it for years and it's always there when I need it.

Here is a closer look and you can see the shine from the bird.
Heartfelt thanks

What do you think? This one layer truly is detailed and interesting, huh?
If you love playing with stamp and stencil, this is one lovely set to try.

Beautiful one-layer, Virginia! Make the bird red and use a Christmas sentiment and you have a one-layer to fit my challenge this week. :)
