More From Rustic Charm Release

Hello friends!

Hope this post finds you well. Have you checked out yesterday's release post? I am back with one more project from Rustic Charm release.

I was asked to create one extra card with Abacus Cover Die. Growing up in Taiwan, I actually had a class that is called "Abacus Class" around Garde 5-6.  The Chinese abacus, also known as Sunpan (算盤/算盘, lit. "calculating tray"), is typically 20 cm (8 in) tall and comes in various widths, depending on the operator. It usually has more than seven rods. There are two beads on each rod in the upper deck and five beads each in the bottom one.

The Altenew Abacus Cover Die is not quite the same as the one I used. However, the style and design are truly classy and versatile. Here I turned it into a Christmas/Holiday-themed card.

With the non-traditional color palette, I ink-blended the background.  I then die cut with the Cover die on white card stock.

For the glittery beads, I due cut them one piece at a time. Since they are all different, I die-cut one row at a time and would not waste my precious glitter paper.

As for the sentiment. I added the white piece back to its place and stamped.

I hope this post helps you getting some ideas with dies like Abacus Cover Die. I know for sure that I would reach out for it soon again. Please check out the release post HERE if you missed it!

Thanks for stopping by!

That is such a beautiful and creative way of using that die. I don't blame you for conserving your glitter paper too by doing just one row at a time. I always save mine as much as I can too! Even little pieces where I will punch out some little circles to add a touch of glitter to a card. Works the same as bling in my way of thinking!

What a unique Christmas card. Love the way used used the glitter paper and regular card stock—the contrast adds interest to your card.

Totally understand not wasting precious glitter paper. I save every little scrap piece for later. Very pretty holiday card.
