We are celebrating this month's Paint-A-Flower Dahlia Bright Eyes with a blog hop!
If you arrive from the blog of Tenia Nelson, you are in the right place.
You can find all the ideas and inspiration over Altenew Card Blog.
My approach to this card is to use bold and striking one! It's a very organic way of coloring. I love the color mix and imperfection of ink-smooshing.
However, I still wanted the coloring stays in a slightly controlled way.
Therefore, I stamped the flowers and roughly cut out the piece. I then created a paper mask. With the mask in place, I can do my ink-smooshing.
As you can see, the result is quite vibrant and striking. That is because, I was able to add and layer ink over and over. This way, I got to have the best of both--watercoloring in a very controlled yet organic way! If you like to see a video, I can consider to make one. It's been ages! LOL
I did color the stems by hand with markers. I didn't want the stems to get lost. The sentiment was white-embossed and stamped. I did most of the coloring with the Artist's Watercolor 24 Pan Set and used Hawaiian Shores Fine Markers for the finer details.
What do you think? This is quite a easy way to add colors without the risk (messing up)!! If you like the look of this, please let me know!

Love the watercolor look of your card!
Gorgeous, vibrant watercoloring. Love the background and the stacked, multi-colored sentiment.
Stunning
Virginia, this is ink smooshing perfection!! Such a bright and happy card!
You are a true talent! Even your ink-smooshing looks like Artsy Watercolor painting.
This is such pretty flower, and you have coloured it beautifully!
Love how you colored this beautiful image!!
Gorgeous! I love your "organic" coloring -- I have to give this a try!
I love how this "imperfect" coloring adds so much to this design. Just a lovely outcome!
WOW! Very eye-catching design, Virginia! Love it.

Beautiful colors and card Virginia. Thanks for the inspiration!
The colors are so vibrant! The ink smooshing turned out so well. I would love to see a video of your process.
Great color share. I like the share to mask the flowers to ink up the background. Videos do make it easier to understand steps. Would always like the added aid.
so pretty Virginia. Love the beautiful background and the stunning florals
(jaw on floor)! I'd never have guessed you smooshed! Your card made me curious about the technique so i read how you masked the flowers from the background to keep your colors separate-- BRILLIANT! Thanks for sharing!
Wow--very striking with these colors.
The colors came out perfectly with your ink smooshing (and another form of coloring I struggle with!). And I love the way you did the sentiment.
I like your ink smooshing! I thought it was water colored so it's fun to hear you methods. A video would be fun to see! It's a lot of work but it is greatly appreciated when you are able to make one.
Wow! What a cool card! I love the bold colors and this ink smooshing technique- I would love to see a video!
Love the loose style and the way the white separates the flowers and background. I am sometimes afraid of white space!
Love your ink smooshed card--it's lovely!
Such pretty bold colors! Thanks for sharing.
You did such a pretty job with this card. Mine always look messy when I try to work like that... great card :)
Lovely card...
Love the layering and colors! Beautiful card!
After seeing all your beautiful colors that you created for this card it definitely made me smile. Thank you for inspiring
Very pretty.
Nice idea to mask in order to complete the ink smoothing background. Very vibrant and cheerful. A video would be wonderful.
I am new to watercolors and ink smooshing. This card is so dynamic and fun. A video would give me the push to try something new.
