Customize with a Die--Your Way!

Hello friends!
I love using a good floral die.
s
The Gaity Thin Metal Die  (Penny Black) is so detailed yet it is not too intimidating to use.
I could have use the die as it is, but I decided to create a flower arrangement-my way!

First, I made 3 die cut with watercolor paper and colored them with Kuretake Watercolor.

Thanks so much-001

Once the flowers are dry, I put them together like a flower bouquet.

I find the kraft card stock and doily work really well with the brightly-colored flowers.
Last but not the least, I want to thank you for leaving me all your well wishes and comments on my 30th Anniversary. Here is a photo of me and Dr. John celebrating this milestone.
The smiles say it all :)
Thanks for stopping by!

This week the challenge is...

Fabulous Florals

We are using Hero Arts products this week. You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some, we love to see them used :-)

I used a die Daisy , a stencil Glorious Petal and a stamp Lovely for my project.

thank you

I started out with the stenciling and covered the center with the daisy die cut. Once that's done, I started to work on the daisy --one petal at a time. It's so worth the effort and time!

Here is the close-up

thank you (close-up)

The paper-layering die truly makes this card shine!

Happy 30th Anniversary!

Hello friends!
Today is a VERY special day....it was exactly 30 years ago that Dr. John and I got married!
It was a life-changing day for us. Originally from Taiwan, I met Dr. John on a student exchange (The Chien-Tan Study Tour, aka, the "Love Boat") program in Taipei in the summer of 1983. After getting to know each other for about 6 weeks, he returned to Canada. We had a long-distance relationship for over a year. I was finishing my last year of university in Taiwan and Dr. John was in medical school in Toronto. Between the two of us, we had written over 200 letters (yup, the snail mail had to cross the Pacific Ocean every single time). I then applied to study for a Master's degree in Education in Ottawa. After two years, I got my degree and we got married in 1986. The rest is history...

I am thankful that we made it this far in spite of our different cultural and language backgrounds. Dr. John is of Chinese descent, however, he was born and raised in Canada.
Happy Anniversary

About the card: I did partial stamping for the background with Verdure (Penny Black) with the help of MISTI.
 s
I gold-embossed the smallest butterfly from Butterfly Trio on watercolor paper. With Kuretake Watercolor, the butterflies were easy and fun to color! The sentiment is from You & Me set. I highly recommend these products as they are so versatile.

I don't have any tips or secrets of a successful marriage....
except---live love and laugh every day and try not to go to bed mad.

Simon Says Stamp Summer Vacation: Kid's Challenge

Happy August, everyone!
Simon Says Stamp has done it again!

We are here with another of our annual Simon Says Stamp Summer Vacation Kid's Challenge where we host a special challenge dedicated to our young designers.

ANYTHING GOES WITH GLITTER

It is time for all you crafters to let your children loose in your crafty corners for a few hours. Just close your eyes and set them free to explore their creativity. You are allowed to hide your Copic Markers and extra special papers and you are allowed to help just a little bit if necessary, but we really want the children to 'DO IT' themselves as much as possible.

This challenge is open to all children aged between 2 and 16 inclusive

We have not 1, not 2 but  3 surprise parcels of crafty goodies, hand picked by Simon!

Please get your child(ren), grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors....any young friends to take part in this super fun challenge and link it up here.

Just for fun, I am sharing a card that my son David made when he was 15 (2009).
I know my stamping has definitely influenced my children and they have certainly benefit from it. They are proud to give my handmade cards to their friends and offer to help with their free opinions on my card-making. And once in a while, they also make cards for their special friends!

you make me smile
