Stampwheel Inspiration

There are many features about Stampwheel. It make a great addition to your craft room if you love stamping. It is not quite the same like MISTI. However, there are things that Stampwheel does better than MISTI and vice versa. 

If you like turning stamps (instead of positioning paper in various/stationary position like MISTI), you will enjoy Stampwheel. Stampwheel is also great for stamping wreathes, patterns and certain formations. I will slowly introduce you to those features in the future.

For this project here, I did "Mirror Stamping". Simply position the tulips in one position and stamp. Once stamped, I flipped the plate 180 degree and re-stamped the entire image. That's it.

One good thing about Stampwheel is its size. The Stampwheel base measures 9"x 9"x 1/2". This allows you to use larger stamps and create larger and elaborate designs.

 Once I added ink colors with the stencils, I ran the entire image with the Embossing Folder. This simple symmetrical design is made easy thanks to the Stampwheel.

 I love how these layering stencil can offer so many possibilities.

 For the entire color and combo, I used Trailblazing  Fresh Dye Ink. With all the colors and details, this stencil set is incredible. 

By adding hand--stitched details is elevating the design to another level.

How To Color with Distress Oxide Ink

I am sharing a simple way of adding colors to stamped images. 

 and Hello Butterflies  (Scrapbook.com, Simon Says Stamp)

I am using TWO sets of Spellbinders stamps (Stampendous Collection) to create a background. As you can see these images are great for coloring.  You can check out the March release HERE.

 

I nearly bought Distress Watercolor Pencils (still on my wish list) and would have loved giving these a whirl...however, I just used my good old Distress Oxide to color these lovely images. 

If you have not tried coloring with Distress Oxide, you must give it a go. All you need are a few ink pads and watercolor brush or/and paint brushes.

 

Here is a simple how-to:

1. dab the Distress Oxide Ink onto the acrylic block or any nonporous surface

2. use waterbrush like this or paint brush with wet tip

3. mix the ink and adjust the water/ink accordingly

4. you can mix colors as long as it's somewhat dry, or it may turn into a muddy color

5. re-stamp the images if possible: if you use MISTI or StampWheel (Altenew or Simon Says Stamp), simply leave the stamps on and re-stap the images after coloring. This will help your image to pop and stand out more.

Add Ink to Embossing Folder

Hello friends!

I am back with another creation with the new Embossing Folder. The products that I used are from this month's Altenew release.  

Arches 3D Embossing Folder (Altenew, Simon Says Stamp) and

Red Crowned Cranes (Altenew, Scrapbook. com, Simon Says Stamp)

 And this was my result of using these two products.

 

Isn't it lovely? Now, about adding inks to the embossing folder, you can pretty much use any types of inks for applying to the embossing folder. The blue background looks a bit blotchy. It has nothing to do with my machine or skills. It is all about the types of inks you use.

The dye ink, in general, tend to get splotchy and that's the type I use (see HERE). It doesn't bother me that it's a bit splotchy, I think it gives the background a n interesting textured look. If you want to avoid the spotty look, you can use inks like Pigment Ink, Mixed Media Ink (like this) or Distress Oxide. You can also use a brayer, that seems to take care of the blotchy issue.

Lastly, I also used this new sentiment Vertical Greetings die. I love that it is vertical....! When you come up with certain designs, sometimes, it is so much easier when the sentiment is in vertical formation. Something to consider....

Use That Washi Tape for Accent

I am back to share another project with 

 

this this month's Craft Your Life Project Kit Delicate Garden .This set comes with the die, stamp, embossing folder and layering stencil. This time, I am using the embossing folder as the main focus.

Did you know that the stencil set is perfect for adding colors to the dry-embossed images?

I chose a warm color combo as the rich colors gave it a vintage look.

The gold-embossed sentiment adds boldness and shine to the design. Next, I used a strip of Summer Afternoon Washi to bring out the colors.

I also added my favorite glitter paper "Glitter Cardstock Gilded" to give it an extra oomph.

Dancing Poppies

Hello friends!

I have a fun project to share today. 

 Today's card was created with the Altenew Build-a-Garden Dancing Poppies. 

 For these brightly colored poppies, I took a different approach to color the image. I used Altenew Gouache Paint (Altenew, Scrapbook. com, Simon Says Stamp).

 

If you are not familiar with Gouche Paint, you are in for a treat. Check out the Gouache definition from Wiki HERE. What I love about Gouache is that they are opaque, which means, they can be re-colored and changed up the colors without mixing and blending and turning into mud.  Gouache is heavier and more opaque than watercolor, and has greater reflective qualities.

I love coloring with Gouache as the colros are much more vibrant than regular watercolor.

As you can see that the outlines of the Dancing Poppies are simply gorgeous. I didn't focus on precise coloring and let the outline speak for themselves.

Craft Your Life Project Kit-Delicate Garden

Hello friends!

 

I am popping in to share this month's Craft Your Life Project Kit Delicate Garden This set's design are so extensive with the die stamp, embossing folder and layering stencil. 

With this project, I focused on stamping, die-cutting and stencil-layering.

 For this design, I chose the sentiment for the background. Yes, the sentiment can make such a beautiful text background. 

I used a lighter shade of grey and stamped it in a random-like pattern. With the inks like this set, it was easy to follow the instructions and stamp each layer accordingly.

👉👉 One creative part of this card is that I used the flower center ( a stamp set with dots details) stamp to stamp the black splatter. If you are intimidated with adding splatter the natural and organic way, you can definitely find smaller stamps and use them for splatter-stamping.
