Inspired by Colors!

Hello there!
Once in a while, I got asked by friends:
"What online card-making classes are you taking these days?"
"How do you get ideas and come up with the designs?"
"What do you do to improve your styles/skills?"

The answer, my friends, is blowing in the wind....
I wish I have magic answers to those questions.
I can only say: "Think more, make more and explore more".

Today's post explains how I came up with a card.
I simply felt inspired...I played and then I created.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

The stamped borders may look "random", but it is every bit planned and nearly symmetrical. I heavily relied on my trusty MISTI for stamping the borders. This handy Grid Transparency is perfect for lining up the images, especially the sentiment. Each leaf was stamped up to three times. I also want to point out Wink of Stella (Gold) that I used for splattering. I rarely use it to touch up the image, but it is really handy when it comes to adding splatter. I love it for this simple reason.

I wasn't planning to do any challenge any time soon. But when I saw the inspiration photo over Altenew,  I couldn't helping creating something...
The colors ( and DT Amy's wedding dress) are simply exquisite!

I hope that you look around your surroundings and perhaps you will be inspired to create something. And better yet, join a challenge like this one--->Virginia's View Challenge
(sorry that I am a little biased-LOL).

This week the challenge is...

Anything Goes

We are using  Art Impressions products this week. You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some, we love to see them used :-)  Art Impressions has many fun and hilarious stamps and it also offers quite a few watercolor-themed cling stamps from more elaborated ones (see here) and simple ones (see here).  For my project, I am using Watering Can .
s
This set comes with 4 small stamps. I decided to change up the suggested image a bit. With some masking and watercoloring, this card took some time to create.
The result was well worth it though.
live every day with intention

I figure that since I love to watercolor, why not doubling the fun? Again, I can not stress enough how using MISTI can be helpful in creating this card.

The image was entirely stamped and colored with Distress Inks.

I added droplets of Liquid Pearls on the watering can for fine details. Hope you like it.

Transforming Pattern Paper

 Hello friends!
Today's post is a two-fer. I have been so inspired by the pattern paper from July 2016 Card Kit .
For me, one of the benefits of getting the monthly kit is the pattern paper. I know, we stampers do not always reach for pattern paper often. But once in a while, it is really fun to transform the pattern and make it your own. If you see today's two cards, you'd know what I mean.

The stamp set "Handwritten Floral Greetings" totally rocks!
s
Card #1
a note to say hello
The large flowers in this pattern paper are not colored. I used the ink pads ( Thistle and Goldenlocks, included in the kit) to color the images.  I then stamped the sentiment in the yellow paper. That was easy to add colors!

Card #2
sending comforting hugs
For the background, I stamped all the floral designs. I also inked, stamped and cut the large flower to go with the background. For extra pizzazz, I gold-embossed the sentiment.

I hope this post gives you some inspiration on transforming the pattern paper. It's great to stretch your stash and make it work with your designs. You will also find this very satisfying :)
