Change up with a Cover Die

Hello friends! 

It's the last day of May....wow, the months just flew by! I hope you are having a great month ahead next.  The Color Block Southwest Etched Dies ( the Color Block Background Collection) was part of the Spellbinders April release.

I am sharing a cover plate project. Once the pieces are die cut assembled, it will look like a fancy patch work. I think this is such a cool cover die! It will make a cool puzzle for the kids...!

 

I chose three different color card-stock to reflect the Southwestern vibe.

 

After deciding the color placement, I placed them back like a puzzle over a piece of thin paper with adhesive. You can also use Washi tape or Press & Seal.

I used a thicker "hello" (from May Monthly Card Kit). This card is definitely great for teenager, masculine all occasion themed cards. Better yet, it can used as a puzzle to send. Imagine the message can be revealed as you assemble!

Use TWO Different Cardstock

Hello friends!

 How are you doing this weekend? I am delighted to share a project that I created with the popular Project Kit bundle. 

This set was immediately sold out as soon as it was released.  It's now back in stock and I thought you might be interested in case you missed seeing it.

Magnolia Ballerina   

As you can see, I have white and kraft card-stock in my design. It may look a bit perplexing, but it really is just a white diecut over the kraft cardstock.

 

 The two pieces of card-stock give this an extra contrast of the pinkish red and orange.

 The coordinating stamping, stenciling and die cut makes this project easy and possible. Once I finished the stamped, stenciled and die cut piece, I took back the top white cardstock and inlaid it into the top portion.

With the top 3 pieces in place (white cardstock on left, super tiny one in the middle and the piece on the right), I positioned the entire piece to the cut kraft cardstock. 

 I then stamped and cut the sentiment and positioned it on the left side of the card. A few sequins here and there completed this card.

 

 I love the warm rich look of the white and kraft card-stock together.

Yay with Simple Stitching

Hello friends!

I am delighted to share a new project with the Spellbinders Stitched Die.  

  

These are my first two cards with the alphabet dies. If you have not tried stitching (with thread) in your projects, these dies are great starter sets.

 

Obviously, the more alphabet dies you own, the more options you have.

 However, you can simply choose the important alphabet that you will use often. For example, my card only utilize two alphabet (a and y) and that make these two alphabet extra special. Another option is to choose the alphabet as "monogram".

For this card, I stamped Graceful Bloom in the background. 

 

This is gorgeous stamp set. I love the artsy vibe in this stamp.

There are two pieces of die in each alphabet set: the front one (with stitches) and the backing. Once your finish stitching, you can then glue the piece to the backing. And that's it!

Easy Layering: Layered Daisies Etched Dies

Hello friends!

I am popping in with a simple layering die set. This Layered Daisies Etched Dies is one of Spellbinders April release.  

Thanks to the deep etched design, you can easily shows off the details without a lot of effort.

 

 

 

 I decided to use Mirror Gold Cardstock since this paper is very pliable and easy to die cut.

For the stems and leaves, I used the ink-sprayed paper that I previously created.

To counter balance the simple and yet striking color combo, I used a floral and wood-grain pattern paper.  The sentiment and tiny hearts are from May's monthly club kit.

How To Color a Large Image Without Coloring (& Winner Annoucement)

Hello friends!

 

 

I am popping in to share a fun and easy project. Previously, I used this Craft Your Life Project kit to create this shape card.

 

However, I love this kit so much that I decided to have another go and came up with another idea.

 

This time, I add tons of colors without having to color the image. The title of this post is misleading (yeah I know-...sorry!). 

 

But the truth is, I did color the image with ink-smooshing. The result is usually gorgeous and organic. The more you do, the easier it gets. 

A few things to keep in mind:

1. pay attention to the space 

2. controlled use of water

3. avoid using multiple colors at the same time (this can create unwanted muddle)

4. color-layering is a good thing 

5. select your stamp/die wisely: outline stamps are generally ideal for this

The thing is EVERYONE can do ink-smooshing. The tricky part is how not to look like a hot mess. If you can make your ink-smooshing look "intentional", you definitely are above the crowd.
