One Layer Card with 5 Easy Masking Tips

 Hello friends!

I have a project to share over Altenew Card Blog. Please stop by to check it out!

I am using the Victorian Green House Stamp Set as an example here. Let's get to it!

1. Stamping the Focal Point

Start with stamping the Greenhouse with grey or beige. With the stamp positioner like MISTI, I stamped the greenhouse in Vanilla Cream Crisp Dye Ink. I left the stamp in position without removing it from MISTI. This step will allow you to re-stamp the image after stamping the small details like the plants.

2. Creating the Masks

I then created a mask with the Altenew Masking Paper. First, I stamped on the masking paper and die cut it. I also created a few additional masks with the plants. With the masks covering the greenhouse image, I was able to stamp the foreground and the background.

3. Add Theme and Interests to Your One Layer Card

Next, I stamped the trees behind the Greenhouse using the plants (part of the Victorian Greenhouse Stamp). Of course, the Greenhouse must have some wonderful indoor plants. Finally, I re-stamped the plants inside the Greenhouse in Obsidian Pigment Ink.

4. Background and Foreground

Once I finished stamping the images, I applied blue (Ocean Waves) lightly with Mini Blending Brush Set. For the ground, I chose Butternut Crisp Dye Ink. This completed the entire scene that I had envisioned.

5. Embellish Your One Layer Card!

The Golden Trim Washi Tape and Seashore Enamel Dots are just the perfect special touches for embellishing this card.

I hope these 5 simple steps are helpful and perhaps inspire you to try masking! I would love to have your feedback over Altenew Card Blog. Please stop by and leave me some love!

Spring Is Here!

Hello friends!

Playing with flower dies never gets old... today's card made my mind blown! I didn't think I would make it look like anything special. Well, I think I was truly impressed with the dies....and myself(!!).

The Hollyhock Etched Dies is part of the Through the Garden Gate Collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn. From the stem, stamen, petals and leaves, this set of three thin metal dies creates a handsome Hollyhock stalk. Mix and match with other flowers from Susan’s collections.

It was certainly a labor of love if you like to create with floral dies. I decided to keep the color pellet of the petals soft and pink.

I was somewhat skeptical whether I needed to use specialty paper. But no, I used the regular 110lb card stock and they worked just fine.

After die-cutting the pieces, I inked up the petals with Distress Oxide. For the leaves, I have some Distress Oxide Sprayed paper and die cut them and created the "leaves".

You may noticed a few droplets of red in the middle of the petals. I thought that they added some nice details and touches.

I got the design paper from this month's Card Kit and layered two pieces and they work beautifully with the Hollyhocks.

Color-Layering with Tulip Dies

Hello friends!

I am delighted to share a SPRING project with you. This tulip die set will definitely get you excited about Spring.

Virginia Lu-Layered Tulips Etched Dies-April2022 - Copy

Layered Tulips Etched Dies is part of the Layered Fleur Bouquet Slimlines Collection by Becca Feeken. The set of six thin metal dies helps to create a wonderful array of tulip shapes. There are three motifs to choose from and combine with. Make them dimensional by layering petals and leaves or shade them with inks. These blooms are substantial enough to fit a variety of card sizes from A2 to A7, and slimlines.

First of all, I must admit how amazed I was with the details of this tulip die.tulip #1

With each grouping of the dies, I assembled each tulip based on the shape and sizes of the tulip.

By using various Distress Oxide, I was able to ink each petal with amazing color hues and shades.

I am not sure if you can see it, I added fine lines with Hawaiian Shore Brush Markers. There are two tips in each markers, I added the fine tips with the small tips.

For some dramatic effect, I added splatter with Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide Spray.

A Grand Time with Geometric Dies!

 Hello friends!

Color Block Mini Drops Etched Dies

Color Block Mini Drops Etched Dies is from the Color Block Mini Shapes Collection. The set of two thin metal dies cuts six different sizes of mini drop shapes (four frames and two solids). This little set can be used many ways from making a background, a border, an accent design and beyond. Stack them or use them separately - truly endless design possibilities! Collect one or collect them all to make different motifs.

It's amazing how a few small piece of die can do....

my happy

If you and your family members enjoy playing with puzzles, you will definitely have a blast!

Color Block Mini Drops Etched Dies-001

I die cut a few pieces of color paper with this Mini Drop Die. The center and sentiment are all part of the Monthly Card kit. After all the die cutting, I didn't want to spend more time stamping....! :)

Color Block Mini Drops Etched Dies

I didn't go to great length to keep the colors in perfect symmetry. To add the wow factor, I used the new Spellbinders Foam Sheets (die cut beautifully!). How is it better than the conventional glitter paper?

 DSC_0089 (2)

These foam sheets give dimension and cuts like butter--absolute NO MESS! Sometimes you wonder why something like this was not available sooner....well, that time is here! The best thing is these inexpensive foam sheets can last you a while, too!
