Virginia's Die Hard Series-Vented Star

Hello friends! 

I am getting back to "Virginia's Die Hard Series" again.

This time, I am using a simple yet super versatile die.

I have no rule about picking certain dies for my series. All I know is, the Vented Star Wafer Die "speaks to me"! If you continue to read/see the following, you'll totally understand.

Here are a few ways of using this die. 

1. use the die as a stencil

 Noticed the yellow star (on the top left and right bottom)? I used the die as a stencil and applied my favorite yellow ( Duckling ) and stamped the rest of the design with Seeing Star Stamp set.



2. use the die for inlaid design

I created a colorful background with the embossed paper (that comes with August Card Kit). I made the die cue and also made a white one. I picked up the white pieces and put it back to the star like a puzzle. There's the inlaid design!

3. use the negative die

 I made a die cut and then cut out the outlines of the die. This is a great way to stretch your die to create an embellishment. I utilized the brightness of alcohol inks and made it the STAR of my design. 


Once I inked up the colorful paper with alcohol inks, I made the die cut and followed the outlines to create this star-studded design.

This concludes this Virginia's Die Hard Series (for now). I may have more ideas!!?

Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit -Take 1!

I am popping in with a post about my August Card Kit projects.

This kit may look patriotic and American, but I think the stamps in this set really make this kit extra versatile.

The two cards I share are suitable for "just because", "hello", "miss you" occasions.
I used Distress Inks for both of the cards.


I love Emboss Resist!  I used the exact same layout ( position all the stamps on my MISTI) and embossed. I took a watercolor approach for the horizontal card.



It was so much fun to watercolor the pre-embossed paper (see the numbers?) that comes with the kit. I decided to use silver embossing powder to add to the shine.


If you know me, I don't just stop at two....there will be more cards to come with this kit and stamp.
