The Myth of Alcohol Ink...and 2 Winner Announcement

I am recently just slightly obsessed with alcohol inks and vellum, so here we go again!

 Today's card is a combination of my favorite things....
Multi-color stamping, Alcohol Ink, vellum, dry-embossing, white-embossing and stitching.



Today's card "lots of love" was my inspiration for THIS card.


(products links are highlighted in colors like this)

Here is the break down of the techniques I used:

Multi-color stamping: with the help of MISTI or TH Stamp Positioner, you can stamp each image multiple times in various colors.

Alcohol Ink: You can lighten up the colors by using more Alcohol Blending solution. Here is the great starter kit if you do not have any alcohol inks yet.

Vellum: I like Bazzill 40 Lb. Vellum. It is heavy enough to withstand any heat embossing.

Dry-embossing: This is when your matching dies come in handy. I used the die (SSS, Altenew) and Tan Embossing Mat

White-embossing: white embossing powder is my most used EP. I love SSS and Altenew White.

Hand-Stitching: the Silver DMC Thread can add so much details.

 

Alcohol Ink is not all about vibrancy, grunge and splotches, swirls.
Well, they are all that AND more.
Alcohol-inked cards can be soft, artsy, light and gorgeous.


 The more you try, the more you will find out what makes the inking so unique and special.

As Forest Gump's mother would say....
"It's like a box of chocolate..."
You never know how your alcohol inked creation will turn out until they appear on paper!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge #449

Welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Challenge !! Thank you for joining us for the Food and/or Drink Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too :-)

This week the challenge is... 

Anything Goes

 We are using Tim Holtz products this week. You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some, we love to see them used :-) 

I used TWO of Tim Holtz's famous mediums: Distress Oxide (for the background) and Alcohol Inks(vellum flowers). 

Previously, I made some colorful vellum paper with alcohol inks. I decided to make good use of the leftover velum. I then proceeded to white -emboss the images and fussy cut them out.
Along with the Blending Alcohol Solution, I also used

Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Set GOLD SILVER Metallic Mixatives 
for the shine.



My favorite Distress Oxcide color is Cracked Pistachio.
I did some ink-blending for the background. You can instantly create a colorful backdrop for your focal point. If you have not tried that, you should!

However, I thought of a way not having to do any bit of coloring.
 Simply stamp on pattern paper and glitter paper!

Wait..... stamp on glitter paper?
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that to stamp on the BACKSIDE of the glitter paper. 😁
Since the stamp is Christmas tree-shaped and symmetrical, you can do this without any fanfare.

Painting on Watercolor Prints (NEW!)

I am delighted to share some new projects with you. 

Today Simon Says Stamp is unveiling a set of new wonderful watercolor prints!

They are beautifully hand drawn by the Watercolor Artist Suzy Plantamura.

I am just an average color-er and I would never pretend to be amazing....

So, while catching up on my favorite TV shows, I did some mindless coloring.

I also used the Daniel Smith Watercolor released by Simon Says Stamp (seen on right side of the photo).

You can use any of the Gansai Tambi Watercolor for the coloring. 
 For the extra shine, I water-colored lightly the images with these shimmery watercolors.

The delicate twigs from Forever and a day really make this card interesting.

The matching die of the twigs are handy, but you can totally fussy cut them.

In order to strengthen the twigs, I embossed the twigs with Clear Embossing Powder.

I did very little stamping with the flower and I love the simplicity in this.

There is something about this clean and simple design... it makes me calm and happy.
