Today's card was created along with all the Altenew Stencil Release.
This card is also part of the Altenew Intagram Blog hop
http://shrsl.com/1m7pf

Now.....back to the regular blog post here.

There are 6 new stencils in this release, this versatile Ombre Stencil is one of them.

Altenew-OmbreStripesStencil-Virginia#1

I don't know about you, but I crave for white space when I design a card! In this case, I know that I want to do a partial-stenciling. There are many ways of using this approach.
I decided to tilt the stencil in an angle and cover the bottom part with scratch paper.
Altenew-OmbreStripesStencil-Virginia#2

I loved striking colors and contrast. When in doubt with color combo, I highly suggest using mini Ink Cube combos like Misty Morning Ink Cube Set (alternatives: Gold Fish and Cerulean Skies)
I did all the ink-blending without the Life-Changing Blender Brush.  I think I did just fine with mini round ink applicator.
Altenew-OmbreStripesStencil-Virginia#2-001

I added the lovely image from "Ornate Foliage" for my focal point. I embellished the card with silver strings and enamel dots.

By the way, if you follow me on Instagram, you can see my IG Story and you can see how I made the DIY Ink-Blender with a toothbrush.

Stamping a One Layer Card

Hello friends!

If you love stamping like me, today's card is all about stamping.
Good old-fashioned stamping, that is.
http://shrsl.com/1mj4o
A first glance, you might think this cling stamp is way too large...
At least, that's what I thought.

There are something very satisfying about cling stamps.
This one called "Dreams of Love" from Penny Black stamps so beautifully.
you're so loved

Gradually, I sponged, yes.... sponged each color to the cling stamp and added color one tiny bit at a time. The Distress Oxide used in this card are: Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Dried Marigold, Pickled Raspberry, Candied Apple, Peel Paint, Ice Spruce and Pine Needle. Because it was sponged, the colors were very subtle and the Oxide would blend on its own. I merely highlighted the area with more intense color.

you are so loved -001

I didn't use any fancy sponges or applicator for the ink transfer.
You do not need Fancy Ink-Blenders to do this ( I just saved you $50! 😁!

you are so loved

Once I am happy with the colors, I decided to add one "Square Frame Die" and stamped the sentiment "you are so loved" from an older Valentine's stamp set from Penny Black (sorry, I can't find the link).
you are so loved -002

I hope you enjoy today's post and perhaps you can try using a sponge to apply various inks to achieve organic and unique color combo. To me, this is the beauty of stamping.

Scrapbook.com offers die cut sale. You can find all the Penny Black products here.

I also list a few extra Penny Black products that I feature in my blog.

Selective Embossing

Hello friends!
You and I know how FUN it is to emboss images.
When you set the heat gun, the powdery images immediately become RAISED and solid.
I am sure you were wowed at your first try!
http://shrsl.com/1miv2
Today I am sharing a card with only part of the images ( Penny Black Youthful) that are selectively embossed. The reason behind this is that you do not always have to fully-embossed a large image. With some colors and shine in the mix, the design is so eye-catching!

I find that adding part of embossing does give the stamped image a new limelight.
It works particularly great when you want to add some shine!
When you see today's example, you will totally get it!

birthday wishes -001

Before you set out to do this, you NEED two things:
1. MISTI or Tim Holtz Stamp Postioner
2. Embossing Dabber (such as this from Ranger or this from Stampendous).

πŸ‘‰πŸ‘‰you can check out my Instagram (yesvirginialu) where I share my self-made my Life-changing Brush.  It's very ghetto.... (LOL). The photo will disappear this evening.
That brush I made works beautifully with this technique!
birthday wishes -002

I started out stamping the image with Distress Oxide (Broken China and Cracked Pistachio).
This can be easily done with a stamp-positioner.

Once the ink are nearly dry, I applied the Embossing Boss Gloss to part of the stamped image.
I then silver-embossed the image.
birthday wishes

I decided to add some dry-embossing with the Square Frame Die (currently on sale over Scrapbook.com here). With the Tan Embossing Mat, I ran the entire iamge through the die cut machine. Thus, you get the subtle and gorgeous dry-embossed frame!

I hope that you like this simple way of adding shine to your stamped image.
I will have a new post about this Elegant Edger die soon.

Time to Kiss.... The Stamp Again!

Hello friends!
The title of this post is very telling, right?πŸ‘„
Altenew-aWalkInThe Woods-Virginia#5

Over a week ago, I had a Stamp Focus Feature "A Walk in the Woods" over Altenew Card Blog (see here). I mentioned that I have another post about this particular background stamp.
Be sure to scroll down to the very end of this post to see some REAL wood-grain!
http://shrsl.com/1mfks

Well, here it is today! My 4th card with this large stamp.
This time I took out "A Study in Watercolor" and made them KISS!
So, this happened when they kissed! πŸ’‹πŸ’‹

What do you think?

I adhered the entire piece to pink fun foam. I then die cut the pieces and arranged them all over the card front.
thank you for the kindness
This process can be broken down in the following steps:

1.  stamp A Study in Watercolor in various ink color
2.  stamp A Walk in the Woods" over the colored image (A Study in Watercolor)

thank you (2)

3. die cut and arrange the pieces
4. add enamel dots and sentiment
thank you

Ding---->When is "Stamp-kissing" is a good idea?
Usually, you pick a solid stamp (A Study in Watercolor ) and a stamp with detailed pattern ( "A Walk in the Woods"
thank you for your kindness

I hope today's post inspires you to try "Stamp-Kissing".
These are my 4 cards with "A Walk in the Woods".

Add Splatter with Embossing Paste

Hello friends!
Here is an extra post for the weekend....hope you are enjoying it!
I am popping in to share another idea on using Altenew Embossing Paste.
First, I want to share bird photo. This Mr. Cardinal has been visiting me in my front yard in the last few days. I had many chances of snapping some great photos. This is one of them.

Card #2 - Copy
 Isn't he sweet?

Please know that there are GREAT SALES info for this Memorial Weekend.
I have listed the details at the end of this post and updated at the side bar daily.

In the Altenew stencil release, I shared the rainbow-themed hello card.
Many of you commented how you love embossing paste with colors
I used Altenew Brush Watercolor Markers because the colors are just the right intensity.

One thing for sure, you have to wait till the embossing paste to DRY!
You can use heat gun, I believe. But I'd rather do the natural way, this would definitely avoid cracking or warping.

You can get these Weekend Doodles for 15% off over Simon Says Stamp
today and tomorrow. Quantities are limited, so do hurry if you want this bundle!
Today's card has a touch of splatter on the paste.
Thank you

I stamped the Weekend Doodles on pattern paper.
I then  die cut two of the wreath and doubled it up.
Not only this added some color, it also creates some depth to the wreath.

Thank you-001

The Teal Shadow Washi Tape fits quite nicely with my wreath design.

thank you-003

For the splatter, I used Dusk Mist Spray .
πŸ‘‰You can create ink splatter by using Watercolor Brush Markers or add water to any of the water-soluble ink (such as Altenew Ink, Distress Ink, Distress Oxide....etc).

thank you-002
Hope you enjoy today's post!
