A Super Beautiful Butterfly Card

Hello friends! 

I am fluttering by to share a beautiful butterfly card. After all the years' of card-making, I can say that there is rarely never an ugly card with the butterflies on. So today's project is no exception.

With the stamp, dies, embossing folder and stencil  all in one, these Craft-Your Life project kits do not disappoint.      I was able to use all 4 sets in my project. To achieve a partial dry-embossed image, these are the steps I took to achieve this look.   1. First and foremost, I DIE-CUT the image first.  2. With the embossing folder, I dry-embossed the die-cut image. You can easily align the image because it is a perfect fit.     3. With the stencil, I applied and ink-blended each image. 4. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set. 5. A Card With Mixed Media

 Hello friends!

As Spring is finally here in my neck of the woods, I find it more inspiring to create spring flowers. Peonies are my favorite! 

Today's project is all about Prim Peonies and Mixed Media.

Prim Peonies Bundle (Altenew), 

Prim Peonies Stamp (Simon Says Stamp), Prim Peonies Die (Simon Says Stamp)

 For a project with Mixed Media, it is all about details and layers. I had blast adding details and layers as I created. First, it's the background colors. I used Gel Plate for this purpose.

 

 I have two sets of ink brayers and did find the Tim Holtz (Ranger) Ink Brayer is superior in terms of applying the inks.

Once I was happy with the inked background, I stamped the Prim Peonies with the StampWheel.    MISTI will do a fine job on this as well. The only difference is that StampWheel Set comes with the Sticky Grid Mat. 

You can now purchase the Sticky Grid Mat separately without the StampWheel. I used the Sticky Grid Mat to stamp the colors and really loved the effect.

 

 I also added faux stitching (top corners) and stamped and fussy cut the two sets of leaves. What do you think? I appreciate that you use my text product (affiliated) links for your shopping.

An Unexpected Effect With Paper

 Hello friends!

I have a fun post to share. This card was created totally out of a whim. I am using this month's Embossing Folder Club Kit from Spellbinders as an example. You can apply this technique with any of your embossing folder.

 I had combined dry-embossing and torn paper in one go. This resulted quite a fun and interesting textured background. 

 

Have you been inspired by the leftovers on your craft desk? This happened to me when I had scraps of paper and dry-embossing folder on my desk....

I carefully adhered the torn paper onto the white cardstock ( 60lb) and sandwiched it within the embossing folder. And I ran through the die cut machine as usual.

With the Die of the Month, I created the scalloped border and trimmed the paper to size. I also embellished the strips with small diecut flowers.

In-depth Study of Garden Reverie Ensemble ( 1 Ensemble, 4 Creative Card Ideas)

It's my turn to share multiple projects over Altenew Card Blog.

I am excited to share some creative projects with Garden Reverie Ensemble. This ensemble includes Chestnut Tree Layering Die, Bird Bath Layering Die Set, Watercolor Roses, and Rolling Hills 3D Embossing Folder.

 

First up, I like to highlight Bird Bath Layering Die. This die comes with a bird bath and 3 cute birds. It really is a great addition to your floral-themed garden.  It is also easy to align since each piece has 3-4 layers. Do you know that you can also change up the bird bath and turn it into a flower planter?

Pro tip:

Change up the die-cut image and make it your own!

With the little "surgery," I trimmed off the top portion of the bird bath and turned it into a planter! Imagine how you can use the Bird Bath Die for your creative garden arrangement! The Hanging Flowers Layering Die Set has the right proportion and design with the "planter." It's a match!

 

Pro tip:

Use design paper (such as Exuberant 6x6 Paper Pack) with the dies for instant colors, creative patterns, and texture.

To add a touch of whimsy to the background, I ink-blended (Parrot, Lagoon, and Green Opal) with Leaf Bed Stencil. The sentiment from Sunrise In the Park completes this fun and thoughtful design.

For the finishing touches, I used Glitter Cardstock and Enamel Dots.  BTW, can you spot the little birdie (from Bird Bath Layering Die)?

My next card from this ensemble is all about Rolling Hills 3D Embossing Folder.

This embossing folder is so versatile that you can use it for a background or create a scene like this card.

 Pro-tip:

To stretch the use of embossing folders, try the masking technique!

 

 

For the hills, I started out with dry-embossing with Masking Paper. I then cut out each strip of "hills" with the masking paper. I then applied various inks to the "sky," "hills" and "ground."

 

 

As for the houses on the hills, I highlighted with the smallest Detailed Blending Brushes in the darkest green. Since we are on the hills, we must hear echoes...

 

 

  Therefore, the "hello" die sentiment from Watercolor Roses says it loud and clear. 

 

Here is my favorite card that I created with Garden Reverie Ensemble (Watercolor Roses and Luxurious Motifs 3D Embossing Folder, "hello" die with Brushed Copper Metallic Cardstock ).

 

 

 

 When you see this Bird Bath (Bird Bath Layering Die and Exuberant Paper Pack) design, you can't help feeling like you are in a garden, right?

Zinnia is such a happy and cheery flower. I think everyone can use a bit of Zinnia in their life. For this reason, I decided to change it up.

Instead of a card, I decorated a gift bag that I bought from Dollar Store. I love creating my own gift bag as they help stretch our supplies other than just card-making.

These Zinnia were ink-blended and sprayed for instant shades and colors.

 

 

 It truly is easy to make multiple blooms as the sprayed ink dried rather quickly.

 The Gold Metallic Ink Spray works wonders!

I used Lavender cardstock this time and applied partial dry-embossing for the background.

The Wicker Texture 3D Embossing Folder added some lovely interest to the overall design. Tip/Reminder: don't forget to pull out your dry-embossing folders for that extra textures. A little bit goes a long way!

I also love the ease of applying colors to the petals with the coordinating stencils.

 

 

By the way, do you know that the Stamp Wheel's Sticky Mat are now sold separately? The Sticky Mat works GREAT with stenciling. You would no longer need Washi Tape to tape it down.
