Pre-view of July Cut, Color & Craft Release

 Hello friends!

I am popping in to share a preview of the new release Cut Color & Craft from Altenew. This entire collection is now ready for pre-order. I have seen many projects with this release and they are all amazing! 

Not gonna lie.... it is very expensive to order the entire collection. But if your budget and creativity allow you to, why not!? I am here for the inspiration.  I am using the supplies from the Garden Blooms Ensemble

 This card looks kind of neat, right? I had envisioned a dry-embossed die-cut image and this is what came up as a result.

 While creating, I also incorporate Partial Die-cutting and Inlaid Die-cutting techniques to the mix.

 This Garden Blooms Ensemble will be available for purchase on July 5th. I will keep you updated with the link once available. 

 Be sure to get the layering stencils with this set. As you can see, the ink-blending really makes the image come to life. And it is SO easy to do when you have the coordinating stencils.

Maximmize the Use of a LARGE Embossing Folder

 I am delighted to share a project using a very large 3D Embossing Folder. 

Floating Balloon 3D Embossing Folder is a 5.50 x 8.50-inch embossing folder. It is a wonderful flurry of floating balloons filling the background. What a fabulous addition to mix and matching with the other sets in this collection!

 Here is a peek at my 3 projects with this Party Collection.

 Floating Balloons (Spellbinders, Scrapbook. com, Simon Says Stamp)

 To achieve the colorful dry-embossed background, I did it in two steps.

 

First, I swiped the inks over the folder.  For this process, you will get an inked background.  Next, I used the same Distress Oxide and applied ink over the surface.

 

This way, you will get the inked balloons. This leaves a tone on tone look with dry-embossed details. I also used the Peony Pink Foam Glitter Sheets (Spellbinders, Scrapbook. com, Simon Says Stamp)

 Since the dry-embossed image is quite busy, I trimmed it to size and the strip of Peony Pink Foam Glitter Sheets seems to fit perfectly. What do you think? I hope that you like today's project.

Multi-step Stenciling

I am popping in to share a project that I created with Balloon Garlands and Sentiment Stencils from Spellbinders June release. 

Balloon Garland & Sentiments Stencil is from the It’s My Party Collection by Carissa Wiley. This set of four durable mylar stencil sheets are layering stencils to create a one-layer dimensional balloon garland design, along with different celebratory sentiments to choose from. What a beautiful backdrop for any occasion from birthdays to weddings and more!

As you can see what the multi-step stencils, you can use each stencil for various colors of stenciling. More and more layered stencils are designed this way now. You can still COLOR, if you are into coloring. However, at least , you can use ink and blend in the colors with the stencils now.

I stamped and stenciled the balloon like it was supposed to. Then I fussy-cut the entire balloon frame image. It didn't take lone, but the effect is awesome. 

I decided to stamp two sentiment sayings in the middle...why not, right!?

For the background, I am using Tiny Dots Embossing Folder.

 

 This Tiny Dots Embossing Folder (shop Simon Says Stamp) is much like the old Swiss Dot from Cuttlbug ages ago. However, it is now updated and larger in size. 

Not only I dry-embossed the Tiny Dots , I also colored the dots in green.  What do you think? All these details make a card special, right?

Creativity Unlocked Feat. Bird Of The Mountain Die Set

Hello friends! It's my turn to share 3 projects with the Bird of The Mountain Die Set over Altenew Card Blog. This 7-piece die set is super easy to assemble. I love playing with dies like this as it allows you to experiment with all sorts of inks, paper and Mixed Media. Let's dive right into today's projects!

 

Card #1: With Deepest Sympathy (Die-cutting, Pattern Paper, Dry-Embossing, Stamping)

   

With the Exuberant Paper Pack (shop Simon Says Stamp here), I picked out the lined, dotted and solid color paper. By following the package guide, I was able to assemble this cute birdie.

 Next, I created a frame with two pieces of Ornate Nesting Die. I ran the white frame with Moroccan Tiles Embossing Folder. in my die cut machine.

I then took out one of the brush pens ( Summer Travel Dual Tip Pen) and swiped the marker over the textured  surface. This helped creating the gorgeous blue over the dry-embossed textures.

 Lastly, I layered the paper and stamped and die cut the sentiment ( Elegant Sayings Stamp & Die Set).  A few Satin White Sequins were added for subtle embellishments.

 Card #2: Miss You (DIY Color Paper, Die-cutting, Watercoloring)

 To create one-of-a-kind bird, I created my own watercolor paper. These Summer Travel Dual Tip Pens are easy to work with and provide tons of colors.

Simply swipe/brush the pens all over the Watercolor Paper  and mist/spray water over the colored paper. Let dry. You then can choose each piece for each part of the bird. 

 I used Zanzibar and Tahitian Terrace for the bird and tree respectively. The branches leaves from Orange Blossom Die Set are in perfect proportion with the bird.  You can see the blotchy stripes of the leaves from the markers. I thought they look kind of cool!

I added two pieces of solid black die for the sentiment . This made the sentiment die (Elegant Sayings Stamp & Die Set) stand out even more.

Card #3: Thank You ( Die-cutting, inlaid Die-cutting, Pattern Paper, Acetate)

 

 You may not see it, but this card has a piece of acetate (See Hot Off The Press Acetate HERE) at the lower bottom. This is truly fun to do when you have all the dies cut which can be assembled like a puzzle.

 I took advantage of the largest bird die and made the die cut with the yellow stripe paper (Exuberant Paper Pad, shop Simon Says Stamp here)This way, I was able to put the birdie right against the edge and adhered a piece of acetate for the backing.

With the Bird of The Mountain Die Set, I definitely stretched my creativity and explored many options.  I know I could go on for more... but you get the idea.

Simple Coloring and Embossing

 Hello friends!

There is nothing too difficult about coloring and embossing.... however, today's post might inspire you to change things up a bit. Do you usually stamp/embossing and THEN color?

Party Balloons Garland Clear Stamp Set

 

 Party Balloon Garland Clear Stamp Set is part of the It’s My Party Collection by Carissa Wiley. The set of nine clear stamps includes a balloon garland with five handwritten sentiments and three classic font sentiments. Pair it with STN-061 Balloon Garland & Sentiments Stencil for the perfect look! They are designed to work with an acrylic block and made in the USA.

First of all, there is no "correct order" of process when it comes to using an image like Party Balloons Garland Clear Stamp Set.

 

By trying out different process, you get various kinds of results. It is really just a matter of preference.

For this very project , these are my exact steps: 

1. position stamp in the MISTI on one side (trim to 4" x 51/4" size). Leave stamp as is in MISTI.

2. stamp twice (in between each stamping, you flip the paper) in light color ink (such as Antique Linen)

3. coloring with your favorite medium. I used Alcohol Markers.

 

4. One coloring was completed, I positioned the paper back to MISTI and white-embossed the images.

5. for finishing touches, I applied Metallic Watercolor : Altenew, Scrapbook. com, Simon Says Stamp). The best thing about the Metallic Watercolor is that you can paint it over any stamped or colored surface.

6. for the sentiment, I applied ink with the stencil 

7. embellish with sequins

The merits of doing it this way?

Since the coloring was done before the embossing, this prevents the Alcohol Markers (such as Copics) getting ruined by the embossing powder. Also, it is so much easier to add the metallic shine after the coloring and embossing. Hope this little guide is helpful to you.
