Another Fun Twist with Cover Die

Hello friends!

I am popping in with another take with cover dies.
But first, I also want to share how I used this stencil Leaves and Berries.
Previously, I share this post with cover die and this is kind of a follow-up.

from our family to yours -001

I am sure this "Dry-embossing with the Cover Die" Technique (Circle Quilt Cover Die) is likely nothing new.
http://shrsl.com/1wpd1

However, in case you have not yet tried this, this post will hopefully inspired you to.
from ours to yours

To start, I used the Leaves and Berries Stencil and applied inks all over the leaves and berries.
You can use any colors with this stencil. I chose minty green and red.
For the letterpress effect with the cover die, you will need the tan mat. It's the sturdy light brown rubber piece that you sandwich in between the die and plate.
from our family to yours

One trick to avoid the paper warping is to spray a spritz of water. This prevents the paper to crack. Of course, you likely need the thicker kind of card stock. I used 110 lb paper and it works beautifully.
from ours to yours -001

It is definitely a GOOD idea to test out a piece of card stock before you try your stamped/stenciled image. I would have been really sad if the paper cracked on me after running this through the die cut machine.....  About the sentiment, it is from "Festive Trees" and hand-stitched with "String Art Rectangles". First up, it is my first take with the Metallic Watercolor Pan Set.
Altenew-MetallicWatercolorPan Set-HappyPomegranates-Virginia#2

For the background, I mixed the Altenew Embossing Paste with the Altenew Mountain Mist Watercolor Brush Markers ( any Altenew ink can be substituted).  I applied the paste over the Classy Stripes Stencil and left it to dry.

Now.... here is the beauty of the metallic sheen!
I applied them all over the water-colored image. Not only this leaves a lovely shine on the image, you can use it to tone down or enhance the color palette!

Stamping with Vegetables (Part 1)

Hello friends!
Today's post is to ignite your imagination and creativity.
You read the title right, yup, stamping with vegetables!
That is not something new to me, but it ha been a while since I used vegetables for stamping.
I am using Precious Peonies for my example.
http://shrsl.com/1winq

My intention of stamping with vegetables is not putting stamp companies out of business. 😁
trust your creativity
Instead, I want to instill the idea.....
"You can stamp anything when you own your creative license!".
I have snapped some photos of the stamping of a Chinese Napa vegetable
( please see Instagram under "My Story", see highlight "stamp with vege" ).

I am using my absolute favorite Mini Ink Set "Misty Morning Mini Ink Cube".
Trust Your Creativity (2)

With the center of the Chinese Napa Cabbage, I stamped the circles in various inks to create a background. This little exercise was fun and once I am done with the cabbage, it does to my green bin (for compost). The prints from the Napa Cabbage were so beautiful that they made the perfect pattern paper for the "Precious Peonies". The sentiment from "Graphic Brushstrokes" conveys my mood perfectly.

trust your creativity

With Partial Die-cutting, I positioned the peonies at the corner and then adhered it to the parchment paper.

I have another card created with the same napa vegetable print. I will share it if you are interested.
I hope that today's post prompts you to look at your everyday objects with fresh eyes.

Add a Fun Twist with Cover Dies (Altenew Post)

 Hello friends!
Today's my turn to share a project with you over Altenew Card Blog.

It give me great joy to share my love of cover dies. There are many kinds of dies in the market and cover dies are one of the most popular kinds. They give instant and beautiful results! What's not to love? I am sharing a fun twist with using the cover dies! Perhaps this will help jump start with your creativity and re-discover ways of using cover dies.
http://shrsl.com/1wbe0
I am using Dotted Swirls Debossing Cover Dies as my example.
( All underlined products are listed at the end of this post.)

I started out with creating a super colorful watercolor paper.
Altenew-DottedSwirlsCover Die-Virginia#1

This was made easy thanks to Altenew Watercolor Brush Refills. You can use any Altenew Watercolor medium ( Watercolor Brush Markers or  the Altenew 36 Watercolor Pan Set).

It is always fun to create your own colorful paper as you can never duplicate the exact colors every time. The key to successful mixing is to let each color dry and add another colored layer. There is no right or wrong in this. It all depend how saturated that you want in your paper. I do find it helpful to spray tiny bit of water to facilitate the color mix and dabbed away the unwanted brown spots with a piece of paper towel on hand.

Altenew-DottedSwirlsCover Die-Virginia#3

Once the paper is dry, I ran the Dotted Swirls Debossing Cover Die through the die cut machine. This resulted gorgeous dotty textures. I then cut the Gold Foil Card Stock to the same size as the watercolor paper and die cut it. I cut out the middle sections of the gold paper and adhered it over the card stock with foam tape.

Altenew-DottedSwirlsCover Die-Virginia#2

The stamped Build-a Flower-Hellebore was then added over the Gold Foil Card Stock.  I then stamped the sentiment ("Simply The Best " ) in Obsidian Pigment Ink.

Altenew-DottedSwirlsCover Die-Virginia#4

I love the continuity of the  Dotted Swirls Debossing Cover Dies gives . The debossed gold paper really adds that WOW factor to the vibrant textured background. I hope today's post give you some inspiration with your cover dies.
It will be awesome if you can stop by Altenew Card Blog and leave me some blog love!

Snowflake Card with Alcohol Ink

Hello friends!
joy
I am popping in with a snowflake card. You may have seen my previous card.
Today's card is another take with the "leftovers".

a thrill of hope

With the 2 extra snowflakes, I die cut a silver one and positioned them in a triangle. I then took out the Alcohol Ink and applied colors that may look good with the snowflake.
a thrill of hope

I love the additional colors (Pool) in the alcohol ink. It lightens up the colors and entire design. It's funny how one color can have such an impact.
polar pair

With the die cut "Polar Pair: (what a name, too) sure makes this easy and fun to do.
