Watercoloring a Stamped Image

Hello friends!
I am popping in with a Christmas card.
Cardinal images are quite common for Christmas cards.
I am using Penny Black Stamp Ruby Trill as my example.

I wasn't sure about coloring the image at first....
A merry wish

After playing with the watercolor and stamping it, I was pleased how it turned out.
A Merry Wish -001

Would you believe that at one point, I nearly trashed it?
Yup, I made a mistake by coloring the cardinal with too much black!
For my coloring, I used a bit of both--Distress Oxide and Gansai Tambi Watercolor (see links below).
A Merry Wish -002
I managed to finish it and mixed and added colors.
My Cardinal may not be full-on red, but I think this one's got "character"!  😉😀

To keep up with the regal feel, I added the gold frame.
Instantly, I think this card improves by 50% ....by adding the gold frame "Stitched Loops"

I am really proud that I turned this card around and it is growing on me.

The take away lesson? Do not trash your work too quickly.....
you may learn to work around your mistake and make it work!

Love the cardinal. I think the black you added depth to the red and ended up making him a very handsome bird!
The gold frame looks lovely with the red.

Yes, my trash bin tends to get full so, obviously, I need to be patience. So very glad that this didn't end up in your bin. Actually, the black added more texture and interest. You're right, he looks elegant and regal. Great way to enhance his wonderfulness.
