Use Those Distress Oxide Spray

Hello friends!

Can you believe that February is over (almost)? I am stopping by with a VERY colorful post. With the current events and winter blue, it is easy to get us down in the dump. However, if you allow me to indulge you with some colorful shape cards, this post is it!

If you have followed me for a while now, you'd know that I LOVE to create my own color paper. I know Color Spray bottles may  not everyone's favorite kind of mediums. But it is certainly one of my favorite things!

always in my heart

It is SO relaxing to spay color mist into the watercolor paper. There is no right or wrong. All you need to do is to avoid brown muddle-like colors. It is so very Zen!

you are the best

I like to do this before heading to bed. It put me in a calm mood and I look forward to getting up to see the colorful result in the morning! Life can't get better than that!?

Once I am left with my DIP paper, I die cut away.... after arranging and assembling. These butterfly shape cards are truly rewarding. Unfortunately the die I used here are sold out everywhere (no wonder!). There are a few others that are still available.

I do want to mention that Tim Holtz just revealed the latest Distress Oxide... and ME LIKEY! I do not own Saltwater Taffy yet. However, I will acquire as soon as I get a chance. I am listing it below in case you are interested.

These are the 3 butterfly shape cards that I created. Hope you love them! Thanks for stopping by!

DIY Gift Bag with Dimensional Dies

Hello friends!

I am back with another project with Clematis Die. This gorgeous die is so easy to work with. I decided to use another favorite die of mine in this February's release-Trillium Die.

 DIY Bag

For curling up and detailing the petals, you can use a kit like "Susan's Ultimate Tool Kit"

I curled up the petals with a toothpick and it is somewhat adequate. I took a white Gel Pen (Altenew Must-have Gel Pen Set) and highlighted the Clematis.

I know this gift bag will come in handy when I need it. I highly suggest that you get a few plain paper bags from local Michael's or Dollar Store. They are such a great canvas for all of your dimensional dies.  BTW, Tim Holtz just released another new Distress Oxide (listed below for your reference).

Add DETAILS with a Die

 Hello friends!

I am back with another project from the Flowers and Swirls Release . Have you checked out yesterday's blog hop? Please scroll down if you have not done so. Be sure to comment to win as well!

This Edged Wildflower Die is definitely intriguing!

You may have already seen a few versions with this die already. You can use your own color paper, watercolored card stock or glitter card stock for the die-cutting. To save time, I have linked all products at the end of this post.

Altenew-Edged Wildflower Die-Here For you Stamp Set-Alcohol Ink Paper-Gel Pen Set 0.1 Fine tip-001

I chose the Alcohol Background Paper and this was SO easy to do.

To step up the design one extra notch, I took the Fine Liner Pen Sets (now 50% Off) and started to draw lines. With the die in place (sitting on top of the die), I followed the lined and traced around the edges.

By adding these lined details, the entire card looks even more cohesive despite the split panels. Within the outlines,  I also colored the petals with Silver (Must-Have Gel Pen).

What do you think? Adding details are fun and interesting. Best of all, these details make the card design more original and unique!

For the vase, I mimic the look of white porcelain vase by die-cutting Versatile Vase Die first.  I then dry-embossed it with  Crystal Wall 3D Embossing Folder.

This Starlight Die is simply detailed and gorgeous. I love how versatile this die can be.  For the center of the die, I inserted a few bright pink pieces and carefully placed  them in the middle.

I created a simple graphic kind of card that can be used for all gender and all congratulatory occasions.

To showcase this die, I created a very colorful watercolor background with Hawaiian Seashore Brush & Fine Tip Pens.

Basically, the die set has done "the work" and all you need to add is a piece of colored card stock (or vice versa).

I dressed it up with some gold Metallic Thread and Enamel Dot.

More Inspiration from "CYL Never Stop Dreaming Project Kit"

 Hello friends!

I am delighted to share more inspirations from this month's Craft Your Life Kit. The "Craft Your Life Never Stop Dreaming Project Kit" simply got me inspired that I can. not. stop. creating. This was one of the cards that I made with this kit.

Altenew-PK Never Stop Dreaming-Mighty Alphabet Die Set -Must-have Gel Pens -001

Today's post is about using the stamp and the rest of the die. There are just THREE steps to create this card. Think about elements, balance and white space in particular.

Altenew-PK Never Stop Dreaming-Alcohol Ink Paper Pad

I started out with creating a large white-embossed piece with one of the floral image. As you can see this image, is so large that it covers the entire card front. Next, we have to think of an extra element to counter-balance it.

Altenew-PK Never Stop Dreaming-Alcohol Ink Paper Pad -002

That's when I decided to die cut the label piece from this kit.

Altenew-PK Never Stop Dreaming-Alcohol Ink Paper Pad -003

With these two strong elements, it's time to think about the background. Based on the pattern paper, I inked up the white card stock with teal, blue and a touch of green.

Adding a few splatter here and there does the trick. I even add a few white droplets and that seem to bring out the white-embossing even more!

Altenew-PK Never Stop Dreaming-Alcohol Ink Paper Pad -004

One thing is for sure, when you gather just a few striking pieces and make them look cohesive. That always seems to work!  Today's card is pretty much like that. Grouping the 2-3 pieces to create a cluster is a good go-to. I hope today's post gets you inspired!

Here are the other projects that I made with this kit.
