Spotlight Technique with a Twist

Hello friends!

I have a floral (surprise!!) card to share!
There are various ways to do "Spotlight" technique.
I took an easy way and used a Circle Die to spot light the focal point.

The latest Penny Black release gave me the inspiration.

The new "Stitched Circles" are extra special! Once you die cut a piece of card stock, it cuts the circle out and also leave the stitched mark on the top side, so you can use BOTH parts!

 I am using the Stamp set called "Bliss" as my example.


Once the flowers were stamped and clear-embossed with Distress Oxide, I applied Carved Pumpkin, Worn Lipstick and Mustard Seed to the background. I then stamped exactly the same image onto a white card stock. Be sure to have the exact same size of card stock when you do so. This would help with the alignment of the images.



I then die cut it with Stitched Circles. To kick it up a notch, I dry-embossed it with Leaf Stitched Frames. The edges from the frame leave such some fabulous yet subtle details!



The sentiment was stamped with "Beautiful Heart" . I added peach/orange sequins.


This card is not perfect in a few minor details. Overall, it still has its fine merits.

Flower Bouquet

 Hello friends!

I created this card as guest designer at Russian Altenew retailer @papership_ru. They are hosting 'Paper Cards' challenge on Instagram. This week's theme is 'Flower Bouquet'. This card will go to one of the participants." Imagine that this very card will be sent to Russia with love!

Since this card will be traveling ling-distance, I wanted to keep the design interesting and mail-friendly. So, I came up with a design with lots of layers without the bulk.



I started out with the NEGATIVE part of the Nesting Label Die with Essential Rock Paper Collection.  I absolutely love that lacy paper. I adhered the outer frame to the card stock.



I stamped strategically the stems and vines within the frame die and made sure they are pleasing to the eyes.  I adhered the three stamped die cut flowers  (leftovers from my previous project "From a Mistake to Unique" here).


I then added assorted Liquid Pearls for subtle shine and dimensions. I could have left the card as it is. But I couldn't help myself with some silver strings! This really completes the "Flower Bouquet".

Doily Frame Stencil

Hello friends!

I have a project to share with the super fine, ultra delicate stencil. 

Doily Frame Stencil

Not all stencils are created equal. This one is definitely a class of its own.

If I am ever stuck in an island and have limited supplies, this is the one that would come with me.

You can use part or entire stencil to create an unique background with various colors.

You know that your projects will always look polished an detailed.

That is the beauty of using a versatile stencil like this. 

This is my first card with this stencil. If you like to see other versions of this stencil, I shall my best! 

If you are ever stuck on creative ideas. I'd suggest 3 simple ingredients.

1. stenciled background: I used a bit of gradient effect. I took out at least 3-4 shades of blue Altenew ink and started applying the colors. 
 

2. use a die or/and stamp: use a flower or any image that you desire for your focal point

3. sentiment and embellishment: based on your main design's color pellet,  use any sequins, drops....to complete. Hope my three-step approach is helpful.

Notes....Lunch Notes!

These super easy and fun notes will make anyone smile!
Many of you seconded with Dr. John's idea that anyone and everyone can use lunch notes notes like these.  I can't agree more!

The paper from Heidi Swapp's "Wolf Pack" definitely made these task much easier.

It has the cool vibe and design and are perfect for die-cutting.

I used Stitched Rectangles Die and Wonky Heart Dies for all the heart notes.

 

I also used the yellow noes with Concord & 9th Paper Pad. These rich yellow paper really packed a punch! It's amazing what colors do in our everyday life.

Add Details and Dimensions to Your Stencil!

Hello friends!

I have a fun and unique stenciled project to share with you.
Normally you would think stenciled cards are usually rather flat and has no dimensions.
 That is about to change when you have the right kind of stencil and pop-up dies!

I am using Altenew's Foliage Stencil as my example. 

This stencil is not sold anywhere else except Altenew Store

Here is the Star Flower Pop Up Die

Let's start with applying ink over the stencil.

 

I then use the applied more ink with the 2nd line details to the leaves.   

Once I am was happy with the stenciled background, I ran the through the die cut machine. 

This resulted in a colorful stenciled background with interesting dimensions. 

The color contrast shows even more  with the kraft card stock.
