DIY Postcard

Hello friends!
Is it hot hot hot in your neck of the woods?
My area is under a heat wave and this summer, I am not traveling like previous years.
So, I am hunkering down and spent my time in my stamp room with AC on....
In the evening, I would go out for my run/walk. Got to keep my FitBit going, right?

As for now, it's time to get creative and use your stash and create something fun....
Here is an idea in case your creative mojo running low lately.
I am using "Calm Water" Stamp from Penny Black as an example.

Since this high quality, rubber cling stamp measures approximately 3.4" x 6.5", it makes a perfect postcard!  I know, is the idea crazy? I think not.
sun set

This card is completely watercolored with Distress Oxide. I didn't use any embossing powder after my initial stamping to "seal the image". Therefore, the lines are not well defined.
Sunset

And that was my intention.
If you look at the stamp, there is no sunset image.
Yup, I painted that. 😎
Yeah, you can totally paint anything if you like with a stamp like this...sunrise, sunset, rainbow, dark night, dawn...etc. Sky is the limit (literally)!
I highly recommend Scenic stamps like this and get your creative juices/water flowing....

I trimmed down the sides of the Canson Watercolor Paper (140Lbs). I made it Postcard size (41/4" x 6"). In order to seal the ENTIRE watercolor image, I applied clear embossing ink all over the card. With the help of a large solid stamp (you can use any in your stash).

Simply stamp it all over with the embossing ink, you can then add clear EP and heat-emboss. The entire card is sealed and is nearly water-proof. Also, this builds up the postcard and makes it extra sturdy! You now have a postcard! I think they would make great gift sets, too!
Christmas is not that far from now....🎄🎅

Virginia, this is so beautiful!! Your inspiration of a morning sun rise is stunning! The idea of making these as gifts is also inspiring!! Am in awe of you magical talent to take a simple "calm morning" to this level of beauty!

Virginia, this is incredible! The D.Ox. inks made it soft & the blurred edges look so great. I see a stamp like that & feel intimidated by all of the detail, but you've made it seem doable. Thanks for the great tip about sealing the D.Ox. as well. Can't get over how much I like this. We are having an on again, off again summer but the good thing about rain every second week or so is it keeps forest fires at bay.
