Create Magic with Color Card Stock

 Hello friends!

I am sharing a Christmas card with blue card stock today.

I tend to use white card stock a lot, this time, I thought I should change it up.... 

This Penny Black Winter Greens truly was how I got started. I like to use my own Distress Oxide-inked paper.

I love the shape of these winter greens as they can be used as focal point, border or background.

I decided to add the bird image from Nature's Allure. They make a great paring.

 

Since I am using blue card stock, I thought it will look extra festive by stamping the sentiment in red.

Also, I couldn't help adding white splatter, glitter and dotted details. I love how this turned out.

A Cool and Easy Way with Embossing Folders

 Hello friends!

It's my turn to share some projects over Altenew Card Blog. This is a fun post about using embossing folders. Like you, I love the instant and impressive results with embossing folders. The best part is that you can create with any color cardstock. There are also many creative ways in adding colors to the dry-embossed images. If you love to get inky, this approach might be your next thing to try! The hardest part of creating my projects was ....waiting for the ink to dry.

I am using Perfect Poinsettia 3D Embossing Folder as my example. The color media I used in this case are the Altenew Ink Sprays!

 

 Before I tackled the project, I picked out the ink colors that would coordinate with the theme of the specific embossing folder. You can simply use your favorite colors or whatever you have in your stash

 First, I sprayed the top part of the embossing folder with various Metallic Ink Spray (Antique Gold, Forest Glades, and Coral Berry). I also spritzed 2-3 sprays of water to facilitate the color mixing without muddling the colors. Carefully, I put the Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock and ran it through the die cutting machine as usual.

 For the final touches, I added the stamped and cut poinsettia from Holiday Flower Stamp Set. The Metallic Thread and Antique Gold sequins gave this card that extra wow factor.

 

I also created my 2nd card in the same fashion.

1. Spray ink ( Ruby Red, Puffy Heart and Frayed Leaf) and  to the card stock

2. Give one or two of spritz of water over the embossing folder, carefully place the card stock over inky side

3. die cut with the embossing folder, let the ink dry

 

 One thing to note is that no cards will have the exact same inky result. I love the organic aspect of this approach. See the white part on the top part of the card? It was not planned. I actually love that the ink didn't quite entirely cover the cardstock!

This card was easily finished with the Happy Holidays Script Die Set and Antique Gold Sequins.  The Gold Foil Cardstock is definitely awesome to use with a large sentiment die and makes this project super easy and fast.

Use Dies with Assorted Media & Spellbinders Hello Holiday Sale
