BetterPress And Die-cutting

I am delighted to share a new project with Spellbinders April release. 

This time, I created the card with the BetterPress And Die-cutting combined.  The Sprigs Registration BetterPress and Die Set from Cheers to You Collection is absolutely gorgeous.

Sprigs Registration Press Plates & Die Set are part of the Cheers to You Collection. This versatile set of 11 press plates and coordinating thin metal dies can be used in a variety of ways to create beautiful, colorful designs. The set also comes with a mylar registration template for perfect placement on a full background botanical print. The full design measures 4.50 in. x 5.75 in./11.5 cm x 14.6 cm.

 

 I am a color lover, therefore, I still do love using the BetterPress with multiple colors of inks. 

The inks I used are from Altenew's Summer Dreams Fresh Dye Ink

 With the right tools and patience, I was able to ink up the BetterPress Plate.

 The sentiment I used is part of the Cheers To You Sentiment BetterPress Die

Create a Project with Altenew -->Old+New Products

 Hi friends!

I am delighted to share a NEW projects with Old and New products. The company Altenew's name originates from old (Alt in German). When you combine Alte and New, that became Altenew.

 Products used in this project:

New: From Land To Sea 3D Embossing Folder,  (Simon Says Stamp, Scrapbook. com)

         Stunning Sakura Bundle, ( SSS Stamp, Stencil, Die) Dreamscape Ensemble

Old: Rose Petal Enamal Dots-Ombre, , Ombre Alpha Stamp, Blushing Blooms Design Paper , 

         Versatile Vases  (Scrapbook. com, Simon Says Stamp Stencil)

 

I have a few ideas to share on this project. It is always a good idea to mix and match with your stamp sets and dies. Often times, the result is almost always quite nice and unique!

 Noticed how I re-arranged the Stunning Sakura Bundle by trimming off the branch and fitted them into the Versatile Vases? They totally worked!

 My next idea is to use the embossing folder creatively in a different way. Instead of using From Land To Sea 3D Embossing Folder  as in the landscape, I tilted the folder upside down and used it for added textures.

 My last idea is to use pattern paper to bring out the COLORS! Stamps and dies are awesome, but do you know that the pattern paper really add those extra pops of colors? I inked up the BetterPress Dies with various colors and then ran it through the Platinum Machine (New and Improved Universal system)

For the extra interest, I added a small piece of Buffalo Plaid Press Plate. As you can see the Buffalo Plaid Press Plate details are amazing.

This peony image is so fine and simple. I came up with a few more versions and can't wait to share.

The black frame works quite well with the Buffalo Plaid Press Plate and give the entire design a cohesive look. THIS collection is too cute as I use one of the sentiment from Flower Market set.

I am back to share a project that is all about simplicity. Simple cards doesn't mean it's plain and boring. In fact, effortless elegance (simplicity) can convey a sense of quiet luxury.

 

With the right image, card stock and sentiment, Clean and Simple design is actually quite stunning.

 

You may want to ask.... what is "Quiet Luxury"?

 Quiet Luxury is about the fashion trend that is timeless, classic, understated and elegant. 

From Google search: The staples are eternal: classic loafers, timeless trench coats, impeccably tailored trousers, and crisp, logo-free tees. The color palette exudes calm—soft beiges, light creams, rich blacks, and pristine whites. And when it comes to materials, only the finest—like cashmere, silk, and Vicuña wool—make the cut.

 

 “Quiet luxury is a new term, but this emphasis on timelessness and minimalism is an integral part of French women’s lifestyle," says expert Sophie Hersan. "We love effortless elegance.”

  With that set of style in mind, how do you translate that trend into card-making? 

 

In my interpretation: products that are nonseasonal, classy and timeless. Designs are simple. They can be a focal point with/without symmetry.

*When used, these products can convey a positive impression. For example, BetterPress Die has that wow factor with a subtle imprints/ textures)

*The quality of the product should convey a sense of elegance (ex: the Spellbinders paper truly delivers) You can definitely use other brands of paper. They ALL work, but the difference is that the Spellbinders paper does make the design pop, however subtle it may be.

To elevate the design, why not take it up another level by creating a coordinating envelop? What do you think? I thoroughly enjoy learning to use BetterPress . Even as seasonal stamper like me, I find it fun  and invigorating to learn a new trick of two.

For my projects, I thought you might be interested to know what makes a clean and refreshing design. I have listed in bullet points and hopefully, this is easy for you to view my ideas and perspectives.

 

 

 1. simple color palette :  love colors! However, sometimes it is just nice to use few colors and mix up the shades. Green Meadows and Green Fields are my favorite green dye inks from Altenew.

 
 

 

2. allow some space in the design: the Modern Montera Stencil 

is super simple and easy to use as layering stencils. 



3. pay attention to colors and shades:  for the background, I added more green and splatter for interest. These are awesome steps to elevate your card designs.

 

 

 

4. clean background & composition: use one focal point such as the leave die from Archways Die Set helps convey the design and meaning.

 

 

5. minimum/selective use of metallic color: I use minimum gold for accents (god sequins, glad metallic thread and gold droplets ) and really make the design pop.
