Detailed Diecutting with the Gold Touch

Hello friends!

How is summer going for you? I have been doing more gardening and soak myself in caring for the flowers and grandson.  For my project today, I am using the Layered Iris Die (Shop Scrapbook. com here, Simon Says Stamp here)

Layered Iris Etched Dies are part of the Spotlight Frames and Florals Collection by Lisa Horton. Created together, this set of six thin metal cutting dies makes a lovely Iris flower in full bloom with two adorable buds. Its leaves and stem have soft curves to give movement to the flower.

Stitched Edge Circle Backgrounds Etched Dies are part of the Spotlight Frames and Florals Collection by Lisa Horton. This set of four thin metal cutting dies cuts a combination of solid circle, ring, and decorative circles in lattice and chevron designs. Who doesn’t love circles with stitched edges?! Combined with BP-187 Spotlight Circle Duo Press Plate, it gives the circle more interest and dimension.

With the gold and silver foil paper (which is a must-have), I die cut the Stitched Edge Circle Background Etched Dies

With that, I added a piece of blue vellum underneath. This brings out the color and contrast. Vellum is such a great addition, isn't it?

This reinforce the gold touches, I did the same with the sentiment "smile".  This gives the entire design a cohesive look.

3D Emboss & Cut

 Hello friends!

I am happy to say that I got my mojo back and have been creating more. Today I am sharing a project that I created with Spellbinders 3D Emboss and Cut. Spellbinders came up with this feature a few years ago. Now, they have stepped up and the designs are now 3D and more intricate.

Floral For You 3D Emboss & Cut Folder is a 5.50 x 8.50 in. embossing folder with three thin metal cutting dies. This set creates three sweet floral arch shaped vignettes with one of them being a tag to be used for projects or gifts.

Nest dies along the lines in the folder; set cardstock in place and close. Run through die cutting machine, and it embosses and cuts at the same time!

As you can see, the process of diecut and emboss can be achieved very quickly. I spent some time adding colors and details to the embossed image. It was very therapeutic process.

I am using the pattern paper from Bayfair collection. I love how the pattern paper brings out the colors from the inked images.

I only needed to add a few sequins to make this design shine. I will share more projects from this set.

In the last few months, I was catching up on life and traveling. Now that I am a Grandma, I am enjoying spending time with my grandson as he grows so fast! I may not post as often, but I do care about sharing projects in my blog. Thank you for your support and patience.

Last but not the least... here are more of Dr. John's Alaska photos.

Margerie Glacier (from Wiki: Glacier Bay and its many glaciers are approachable only by air and water as there are no roads in the park. The steep drop off of Margerie Glacier terminus allows cruise ships and smaller park tour boats to anchor nearby providing close-up views of Ice Calving)

I did hear and saw a small calving. It was out of this world!

As we are experiencing heat wave in most part of North America, these Alaska photos should give you some soothing "relief"!!?

Detailed Dies Make It Easy!

Hello friends!

I am back (finally) with some inspiration with dies and Alaska photos! First, let's look at the die set that Spellbinders has come up with.

First up, it's the Layered Iris Die (Shop Scrapbook. com here, Simon Says Stamp here)

Combined with BP-187 Spotlight Circle Duo Press Plate, it gives the circle more interest and dimension.

With all the two sets of dies, I created a textured layered background. I added vellum for the extra subtle textures and interest.

Silver goes well with a cooler tone such as blue, lilac and purple. That's exactly what I did here.

The stitched outlines from the Stitched Edge Circle Background Etched Dies provide such details to the design.

I also added a touch of lilac color in the background. The vellum highlight the colors and details fabulously.

The sentiment from You Make Me Smile Die Set has everything you want in layering.

Finally, with Dr. John's permission, I am sharing his breathtaking photos from Alaska cruise. This photo of helicopter was taken in Skagway, Alaska. It reminded me of scenic cards I made...

The scenic views truly were stunning. We were lucky that the weather was pretty good nearly every day (except in Juneau).
