 One good trick I have is that you can use the cloud die as a stencil. Simply die cut the cloud piece and create with the negative cloud die piece and use it as a stencil.

A Re-visit of a few Goodies!

A custom order for twins

Hello friends!

Hope this post finds you well. I am back from my two-week family visit in Taiwan. The trip went smoothly and the flights were all great. I am very thankful that I got to visit my relatives and friends and even witnessing the historical Taiwan presidential election. I am taking it easy to rest up as the trip was jam-packed with food-tasting and sight-seeing. 

Before my trip, I made this custom order birthday cards for a set of twins. I decided to make a tri-fold card.  This is the front of the card.

Bur first, let's talk about the embossing folder. In this card, the Balloon Embossing Folder can be use in so many ways.

 You can keep the color scheme subtle/white/as is or add colors (like I did here).

Use Those Pattern Paper and a Giveaway

This die set can be used in so many colors. I took the easiest way and added only a tiny bit of shading and the blooms are absolutely gorgeous.

 

 

 The pattern paper pad can be our BFF. Pattern paper gets neglected.....! 

I get it, I understand many of us like to create our own background and inking. I am one of those, too. However, pattern paper can be such a great asset for color contrast and interest for cardmaking.

 

 

 The Exuberant Paper Pad offers rather modern and clean lines and patterns.

In fact, seeing pattern paper like this inspires me to create more patterns myself. Do you thinks so?

 

 

 

My first version with this die also has that torn paper effect.  I am sharing this die simply because I love love it. To my utter disappointment, as soon as I stepped down from Altenew Card DT (2017-2023), my commission rate (with affiliated link) was drastically reduced from 10% to 5%.  For example, if you purchase this Japanese Camellia Die Set (value of $35.99) HERE, I may now get a sale of $1.80 instead of $3.50. An Unexpected Effect With Paper

I have a fun post to share. This card was created totally out of a whim. I am using this month's Embossing Folder Club Kit from Spellbinders as an example. You can apply this technique with any of your embossing folder.

This month's "Seamless Floral Background" embossing folder is perfect for making cards, decor, and more.

 I had combined dry-embossing and torn paper in one go. This resulted quite a fun and interesting textured background. 

 

Have you been inspired by the leftovers on your craft desk? This happened to me when I had scraps of paper and dry-embossing folder on my desk....

I carefully adhered the torn paper onto the white cardstock ( 60lb) and sandwiched it within the embossing folder. And I ran through the die cut machine as usual.

With the Die of the Month, I created the scalloped border and trimmed the paper to size. I also embellished the strips with small diecut flowers.

Fragrant Flower Die in Many Ways

It's my turn to share projects over Altenew Card Blog. This time, I am highlighting the Fragrant Flowers Die Set.

The Fragrant Flowers Die Set is a delicate die and can be used in many wonderful ways. Do you know that you can create TWO cards in one go? Let dive right in, shall we?

 

Here is an overview of my work surface as it shows I set up for these two projects. The bright and beautiful Summer Dreams Fresh Dye Ink are perfect for these projects.

 

1. Die cut the Fragrant Flower Die with 100lb Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock
2. Use the die cut paper as a stencil and place it over another piece of cardstock
3. Secure the paper with Satin Masking Tape (Ultra Sticky Mat will work also)
4. Ink-blend the various ink with Mini Ink Blending Brushes and Detailed Blending Brushes
5. Once finished ink-blending, remove the die cut paper

 

 With the two beautifully -stenciled die cut piece, you can work on finishing the project.

 

 The delicate die was glued and secured with 2 in 1 Precision Glue Pen.

 

To highlight the pink flowers and add interest, I added the Summer Afternoon Enamel Dots.

 

The sentiment is from Sketched Florals Stamp and Die Bundle. Another piece of solid die was added for extra pops of color and dimensions.

 

With the second piece of the stenciled background, I added a piece of black frame to show off the vibrant colors. You can simply trim it to size and add the black cardstock as well. 

 A few Satin White Sequins were all what's needed for the embellishment.

 

 This Clean and Simple design clearly showcase the Fragrant Flowers Die Set.

 

 The Brush Silver Metallic Cardstock die cut beautifully with the Fragrant Flowers Die.

 There are two rectangular dies which are also part of the Fragrant Flowers Die. The inks I used for the sentiment strip are Pink Pearl, Lagoon, Industrial Diamond, Eucalyptus and Wisteria.

 The Altenew Metallic Threads are one of my favorite embellishments.  Here, I added a little extra on the side and tied up a little bow. Small details do matter!

Eclectic Projects

Feature products #1: Embellishment Star Die, Plum Blossom Layering Die, Golden Sunrise Glitter Cardstock, Elegant Sayings Stamp & Die Set(sold out)

 

 This Plum Blossom Die truly is lovely and easy to assemble.

 

For the background, I inked up the Embellishment Star Die with the gradient effect.


 

 For the accents and highlight, I chose gold color. I have one confession to make though......! 

 

 

 

The tiny strip of glitter paper on top? It was to "cover up" the uneven cut of the Embellishment Star Die. I thought that was a brilliant move! Haha. I actually love the tiny shiny accent of that glitter strip paper!

   

Feature products #2: Bird of the Mountain Die Set, Exuberant Paper Pack, Gradient Cardstock Set (Summer Afternoon)  

 

 The Bird of The Mountains Set is part of the Slice of Life Ensemble.

 

If you are a bird lover, this Bird of the Mountains will delight you. I  am having so much fun using various colors/kinds of paper to create with this bird die. 

 

 I chose Gradient Cardstock Set (Summer Afternoon)  for the body of the bird. This really makes layering for color choices much easier.

I basically created a puzzle frame and put the birdie back to fit within the frame. You likely can't see the acetate for this card. But that was what I used for the layering.

 The Orange Blossom Die Set is, to my surprise, easy to color and layer.

 

The Ornate Nesting Die Set has 6 sizes of dies. I used the two largest dies to create a frame. That's the beauty of this shape die. You can have endless ways of layering and die-cutting.
