About Carnation:
This month's build-a-flower set features a beautiful carnation. The meaning of
carnation includes fascination, distinction, and love, and its use in art and
decor dates back to ancient Greek and Roman times. With their ruffled appearance
and classic beauty, these flowers possess a charm and allure that continues to
captivate people around the globe. Alongside the multi-step carnation, we have
included two-step leaves, berries, and a cluster of tiny flowers that can be
used as filler images for your flower arrangements! The set also includes three
kindness sentiments that are great for any occasion.
Thanks to Mother's Day, Carnation are the first REAL flowers that I got to know when I was little. It has a special place in my heart. It's funny how a certain type of flowers can evoke a special memory. I decided to stamp a blue-ish Carnation as they become more common in the last decade.

I started out with stamping and die-cutting the carnation. You definitely do not need many ink colors for this design.
Ding--->Remember "Generation Stamping"? You can use the lightest ink in the background to start with. Each time, you can stamp a stronger shade as you go. Practice makes perfect. Try stamping on a piece of scrap paper and see works.
Stamping the carnation and background are equally fun and satisfying.
I enjoyed stamping the light and dark shades to create a nice backdrop for the flower.
I LOVE mixing colors. Here I mixed Sea Shore and Deep Blue Seas.

The small floral were colored with Altenew Artist Markers.
I hope you like my first rendition with this month's Build-a Flower.
I will be back with another version hopefully soon.

This is amazing!! I love your stamping and the pretty colors you chose!!
My grandma, who lived in a small town in northern Alberta, had a flower garden that quite literally turned heads and brought people down the street to see its splendid glory. Roses, petunias, poppies...you name it, she grew it. But the highlight for me: her carnations! Big, beautiful blooms filled with ever so lovely colour. Your carnation, and all the other florals you paired it with, reminds me of grandma's green thumb and her luscious garden. Her vegetable garden was utterly amazing, too! Miss her; sometimes I wish I were a little girl again...

This is beautiful, Virginia! Love the depth of colour you get from layering the different shades.
Absolutely beautiful card!!! I really love how you stamped the background in lighter shades, and then as you got closer, the colors got darker in shade. Thank you so much for taking the time to we such great and helpful tips as you do on many of your posts!!! (Just a request, I and I'm sure many others pin cards to boards for inspiration later. However, when I try to pin your card, I get a generic shot of a stamp set of something else. It would be much more helpful if you would allow us to actually pin your card. Just an idea!!!! However, whatever you do, keep making such beautiful and wonderful cards!!!!!!
Another gorgeous card!
