We are celebrating this month's Build-A-Flower Hydrangea with a blog hop!
If you arrive from the blog of Nathalie DeSousa, you are in the right place.
If not, come and join the fun hop for ideas and inspiration.
When I saw this lovely stamp set, I couldn't decide whether I want to do embossing or water-coloring.....So, I did BOTH!
I started out with stamping some faint outlines of the hydrangea. After coloring the images and background with Altenew Artist Watercolor 24 Pan Set, I did the gold-embossing over the water-colored images.
You can emboss first and then watercolor, of course.
I do like to do it in reverse steps these days.

Noticed the stitched outlines?
Yes, I hand-stitched the rectangles with the String Art Rectangles Die. I highly recommend this die set because you can add so much details and interest to your stamped/colored design. I had the most relaxing time with hand-stitching when I did it in front of my favorite TV shows!

I am fast becoming a fan of outlining in gold and coloring. Wish I could employ this technique to my garden hydrangea! Hand stitching - well worth the labor for you to do it, as it takes it to the next level. And let's talk about that ethereal background - STUNNING!l

Stunning card using both the embossing and watercolor combo. The background is gorgeous. What a perfect backdrop for a beautiful card!
The blooms are just gorgeous, Virginia! Love the stitched border, too!
Your lovely hydrangeas almost look like they've been painted with metallic watercolours in that they seem to shine & of course the gold embossing powder gives such a touch of elegance all the way around. I love the background you created as it has a dreamy look to it. I always have to emboss first or else I can't stay in the lines if I watercolour. Obviously, you've gotten very good at it. Bravo Virginia!
I have never tried to emboss after watercoloring. Who knew? And thanks for telling me about the string art set. I NEED that. Just waiting for my stamp to arrive. Want to make this years' Mother's Day cards for my girls with it. Staying home, blog hopping, crafting and staying safe. Take care everyone.
Beautiful card, so full of amazing details like the stitching, gold embossing and love this color combo.
